Update - 09/09 Day 65 Flower

Sorry for the late update on the remaining two plants . This was the entire garden right before i harvested the AK48 .

Northern Lights -

And Ak48 on 09/11 just hanging out, got the humidity and temps right where i want them.

Update 09/12
Day 68 flower

These girls are starting to finish up and fade , both plants are now showing amber trichomes so i can pull them at any time. i believe i will wait until Wednesday, letting them both go 10 full weeks of flower -

Harvest Update
09/14 - Day 70 Flower

The other 2 plants came down on 09/14 and i am almost done trimming up the AK48.
Here are some pre-harvest pictures before i washed both plants..

Northern Lights Takes the crown for the most dense plant of all 3 and definitely the best overall structure, very uniform. definitely popping more of these seeds as we speak, i can only imagine if i vegged her a little longer what she would've produced.

Aurora Indica - This plant taught me a lot, the main thing being NEVER GIVE UP on a plant. really nice structure on this plant.

I am currently finishing trimming on the Ak48 and should be done and have some updated pics for you guys by tomorrow.

HARVEST UPDATE -

Plant 1 - Ak48 - 63 Grams dry Herb - 35 grams of dry trim

Plant 2 - Northern Lights - 34 Grams dry Herb -15 grams dry trim

Plant 3 - Aurora Indica - 28 Grams dry herb - 7 grams dry trim

Total - 3 plants - 125 Grams Dry Herbs - 57 Grams Dry trim


At the conversion of 800 watts thats .15 Grams per watt ( due to heat issues until late flower i didn't use all bulbs in both t5s 100% of the time in flower so the actual wattage is lower than 800 watts, closer to 5-700) which is way below what i was shooting for but hey i got a little over a quarter pound of some high quality herb that i grew myself, Next time will only be better. There are at least 5 tips i would give myself or anyone else wondering how i can improve the environment and outcome of the grow.

1) CHECK YOUR PH IN/OUT - I can contribute a solid amount of my lack of weight to the ph i was putting in nearly 90% of the grow (usually 6.2-6.5 when it should have been 5.5-5.8) . It wasnt until the last 2-3 weeks of flower i realized i was feeding my plants the incorrect ph the entire grow usually and hadn't even been checking the run off ph. by the time i checked it was way too late to make up for all the lost time.

2) KEEP LIGHTS CLOSER - As stated above i had heat issues for a majority of the grow causing me to keep my t5 lights more than two feet away from the top of the canopy. This caused my light penetration to decrease greatly for a good part of flower until i bought a new AC.

3) CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE - I had to learn the hard way not to cut the corners on Air conditioning. Due to my older AC beginning to fail midway through the grow temps some days reached upwards of 88 degrees f , this combined with the lights being too far away for good penetration caused a unfavorable yield.

4) PREVENT LIGHT LEAKS - I am pretty sure the light leaks i had caused my girls to go hermaphrodite on me, causing a substantial decrease in my final yield. Make sure your grow area is 100% light proof during the night period.

5) DON'T OVER WATER - During this grow I often used the feeding regimen recommended in the book which required feedings every 3 or 4 days during veg, gradually to every 2 days by mid flower. I sometimes fed my plants when it wasn't needed which most likely caused a salt build up and nutrient lock out. you should only feed your plants when the pot/s are light.

AK48 - Smoke Report :
I decided to do a full 2 week minimum cure on my medicine and began testing it out 2 weeks after harvest. This plant is the least dense of the three, which was expectable; the strain is a sativa dominant hybrid. Upon opening the jars there is a unmistakeable tangerine smell that follows with a slight lemon undertone making this stuff smell very fruity and pungent. The flavor of the smoke on this stuff is very smooth though not as flavorful as you would expect when opening the jar at first but after curing more, now the taste definitely begin to bring out the citrus hints , but i've also read this isn't the tastiest strain. The first two days of smoking i didn't realize the potency of this stuff and smoked myself to sleep. After 2 or 3 good hits I begin to feel it in my temple and behind my eyes, i will find myself staring off into space in a trance, to the point i just wanted to close my eyes and just think or meditate. This stuff would be great to clear your head and open up your mind. High lasted intensely for a little over a hour , then tapers off over the course of the next hour. Solid 2 hour high.

Northern Lights - Smoke Report:

I just began trying out this stuff about 2 days ago and so far i absolutely love it. I am going to go ahead and say it... This is my favorite strain of the 3 i have grown These nugs are nice and solid and packed with trichomes. I believe i got a lemon pheno , the smell is very apparent when opening the jar. You can smell this stuff across the room, The taste is very similar to the smell and has a nice ratio of lemon with diesel / gas undertones. I consider this my bed time medicine definitely has a nice couchlock / muscle relaxing stone to it , high comes on fairly quick and last solid 2 - 2.5 hours . I sometimes have sleeping/back problems and i have slept great the past week using this as my bed time go to, i only wish i had more.

Aurora Indica - Smoke Report: This girl was the last to finish drying and is still curing and bringing out the smell and terpenes each time i try more out. The smell is somewhat of a pine sol and musky scent, and upon a very deep and slow inhale in the jar you get some citrus/berry tones going on. The smoke is very smooth and heavy, tasting similar to the smell profile. A few bowl packs had me stoned. You feel the high come on more in the head first and soon your eyes get heavy and you realize you are stuck to your seat and staring off in a couch lock stone. I enjoyed this strain very much. Solid 1.5 hour high that tapers off over the course of 2 hours.

Thanks for following along with this grow. Great things are already in the works and my Ak48 #2 has been pre-flowering showing pistils for about 2 weeks now. The next grow will be 1 AK, 2 NL, and 1 AI .

Nice smoke report. And grow. Interesting that AK48 put you to sleep, but I suppose enough of even a sativa can do that. Must be potent stuff.
