I guess I'm officially an "old" since the song was released in 1973, my senior year in high school, and Panama Red had hit my town so it made the song even more popular for myself and my friends. Since it was seedy we grew it but Man-O-Manischewitz it had a long flowering/finishing time.

I'm growing a strain right now (Tahquitz OG) which the breeder says he developed to try to replicate the high from Panama Red. "hey gringo your acting crazy like a clown......
