What Happens Now That Ohio Has Legalized Medical Marijuana?

Parma, Ohio - Ohio's new medical marijuana law took effect last month but the work has just begun to determine what Ohio's program will look like.

Will Ohio doctors register to recommend marijuana to their patients? Who will be licensed to grow marijuana? Is legal recreational marijuana in Ohio's future?

Four people who have a stake in the future of Ohio's medical marijuana program will discuss those issues and more in a free program Thursday in Parma.

The event is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Parma-Snow Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, 2121 Snow Rd., Parma.

The panelists are:

• Sen. Kenny Yuko, a Richmond Heights Democrat, who led the charge in the Senate to pass medical marijuana legislation
• Dr. Brian Bachelder, president of Ohio State Medical Association and physician at Akron General Hospital
• Garett Fortune, CEO of FunkSac, which makes compliant packaging for the cannabis industry
• Thomas G. Haren, attorney at Seeley, Savidge, Ebert & Gourash
