A daylong seminar in New Orleans next week will explore the scientific, clinical and business aspects of medical marijuana. The Louisiana Legislature legalized pot for medical use in 2015, but the process for bringing cannabis products to the market is still being shaped.

LSU Health and Baker Donelson law firm are hosting the event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 14 at the LSU Health Human Development Center, 411 S. Prieur St. Subject matter experts will lead discussions about the biological and therapeutic effects of marijuana, clinical considerations and patient management, and commercialization and legislative issues related to medicinal cannabis.

The complete agenda is available online.

On the clinical side, the seminar is targeted to health care providers, social workers, pharmacists. On the business side, topics apply to those interested in funding research, entities interested in the seed-to-sale model, and the legal and regulatory and investment sides of medicinal marijuana.

The event is free but space is limited. Online registration is required.
