have you ever experienced "browning" of your roots? I had to paint my container lid/sides black, this slowed/killed the algae? I think sum light still gets through my lava rock, so I made "lids" for the plant-pots. thanks 4 sharing!

I have seen it, and the plants suffer from it. The plant can revive but it does take awhile. I have yet to find algae to be an issue or a problem as I have had outdoor plants where the algae and the plants did fine together. I first thought that I was going to have an issue, but that was not the case.

So I have not experienced your problem. So we must be doing something different. Nutrients, water spray, ph...something?
