Any tips on growing short bushy plants

My grow room is only 4ft tall on the peak I'm working with about 3.5 feet I want to grow them short and bushy I know a couple tricks but none never really gave me a good result

Grow only Indica dominants - like Purple Kush - that stay small. Top or fim them to eliminate the central cola. And plan a 9" - 12" scrog to keep them short.
