Welcome everyone to my new grow!
Upgraded equipment with upgraded ambitions!
:welcome:
So for me this is a new phase in growing after some unsuccessful attempts with bag seed, bad soil, and all CFL's. I have finally ventured out to a semi-local indoor grow store in my area for better equipment. Also I have acquired real seeds from reputable seeds banks after growing all hermie's with my old bag seed. I am calling this a test grow because I mistakingly ordered two strains that are somewhat for outdoor growing, Purple #1 and Sweet Purple. after I get comfortable with this new setup I plan on going full throttle with my other bomb indoor strains.

Strains
Feminized Purple #1 by Dutch Passion and Sweet Purple by Paradise (both hybrids)
Stage
Journal starts at germination
Vegged for about 24 days
now on second day of 12/12
Setup
Secret Jardin DR60 grow tent (2'x2'x5.5')
CFL multi-spectrum for veg
small 150 watt hps for flower
one 4'' inline fan for venting
one clip fan
one small oscilating fan on floor
air intake is passive at the moment
Medium
75% Fox Farms Ocean Forest, 15% peat moss, 10% added perlite
Pot Size
two 3 gallon Super Roots Air-Pots
Nutrients
Basic fox farm trio: grow big, big bloom, tiger bloom (following FF soil chart)
Misc
Not checking ph this grow (maybe next time lol)
no pests thus far
watering when needed, for veg cycle about every 5-6 days

So I want this to be just a small basic noob grow, a great learning tool for all. All comments and posts are welcome. my goal for this purple test grow is 1 ounce of dank purple buds but i'll settle for semi-dank lol. This is just a personal hobby for a light medical user. Let's keep it simple and skunky! I will add and update journal pretty regularly with lots of pics. Only look at my previous grows if you want to grimace lol! And as always: :thanks::420:
So this first pic shows the two seeds in this grow on far left. the rest are for future grows, will prob grow the most requested ones lol.

So here are all the pics from the Veg stage into the second day of 12/12

I germed these two seeds by 1: soak in shot glasses in darkness for 12 hours. 2: plant seeds 1/4 inch below medium, leave in dark 12 hours. 3: turn on lights 12 inches above soil for 24/7 until sprout. I use glass jars for little humidity domes.

So here I started a little gentle LSTing. the Purp #1 took to it real nice but the Sweet Purp grew thick fast so I took it easy on her.

they have had only one good dose of the nutes so far because I have read in a lot of journals that fox farms soil has enough for most of veg cycle when growing small. Stay tuned for updates and all the info I prob forgot lol! (Look for green text for updates!)

looking good, I will come along for the ride, just because it says best grown outdoors doesn't mean it can be as successful inside, your doing great, cant wait to see more :thumb: + reps for you

Thanks for the support grogreen, you're plants look nice and healthy too, can't wait to see that white rhino you have there! Yeah I don't expect to produce the best buds ever seen but anything will be better than my last attempts. Once I get this one down I wanna plant my indoor strains for a little scrog.
:thanks:

quick question whats the difference between air pots and regular pots

Air-pots make it so there is no root circling or root bound plants. the little holes in the side "air prune" the roots so they get tons of oxygen. they say you can grow bigger plants in a smaller pot. the air pots website tells everything, search super roots air pots in google, not sure if I can post the link here on the forum. so far the plants are happy! thanks for stopping by all!

Your set up looks awsome! You can get away without phing the grow big and the big bloom provided you have good water, but the tiger bloom you need to ph. My last inside grow was with the fox farm trio it went great until we started using the tiger bloom we assumed it was in the 6.8-7 range, not! it was really low. All you need is a cheap general hydroponics ph up and down kit for about 10.0 bucks.
Fox farm is extremely salty and binds up on the roots. So flushing is a must for success. I was growing a sativa /haze dominate bagseed
so I think it was sensitive to nutes. Fox farm is strong a little goes a long way. If I were to use it again I would give it 1/4 strength nutes until it showed signs of slow growth.
Thats why I have since gone with organics much easier! Your more than welcome to take a peek at my journals. The second one is with the fox farm. I will try to pop in every now and then good luck! subbed!

I can't wait to see the white rhino either, my last seeds cost $44 bucks, this batch cost me $215, but you pay for quality, hope they are fat white buds :) I like the idea of the air pots, I have read a little bit about them, I am excited to see the results, how many do you have growing in the air pots? I move out end of the month, then my girls go under two 400 watt HPS, might be over kill with the lights but I plan to adjust the lights periodically around the plants so not just the tops colas are fat but the outside buds will also fatten up....we will see how it goes/grows, I'll be checking in on your journal every now and again, be sure to post a lot of pics

Nice tip gittergreen! so far I have been using half strength, about to give first dose of flowering set, i'll be sure to go easy on the plants. btw, I started watching trailer park boys and its pretty funny, growing ganj in the back seat of a beat up car was HILARIOUS lol.

so far grogreen I have 1 purple #1 in a 3 gallon and 1 sweet purple in a 3 gallon. the theory and videos really sell me on the air-pots, but we shall see, could just be a gimmick lol. the videos of the no-circling roots are real convincing. right now the 150watt hps I have is keeping temps at a perfect 77 F. I really want a 400watt though, I know a lot of growers here on the site will see "150watt" and laugh :laughtwo: but im starting small lol :). keep it real fellas, may all our grows go awesome! update in a few days!

I'd like to start off by saying 'trailer park boys is the shit' Canadian humour at its best, quality low budget entertainment for stoners. Honestly looks like you have a tent about the same size as mine, is it a 2x2x4? If that's the case a 150 watt will work just fine, when I had my 400 watt in there it was like a sauna and very hard to keep temps in check. But keep in mind the more lumens the more output, the more output the happier your plants will be, which means more buds, which means more happiness in life in general......comes down to how happy you want to be come harvest time....highly worth the investment of the bigger light but bigger lights mean more heat, gotta do what works for your space.....can't wait to try an air pot, well first I'll watch your grow and you can give me your thoughts on it before I waste money on a "gimmick"

Lol so I caved I couldn't wait, I bought 6 air pots today, at $10 a piece, I'll be using them for the seeds I'm germinating right now, can't wait to see how they work, only problem I could see with them is the pots drying out really fast from all the air flow around the pot, we will see I guess

Day 7 of 12/12 Update!
So far, so good....
:goof:

hey everybody, thanks for the support and views, things are starting to slowly get going. plants still seem pretty green and lush. I can't believe how perfect my temps have been thus far, the way things are going, producing nice purple buds will be easier with these cool night temps. with the light on it stays in the low 70's and low 60's at night with light off. My last grows were plagued by high temps putting lots of stress on the plants. I may put up some netting soon for future cola support. The next update will have even more pics.

:surf: Day 19 of 12/12
Still cruising along!:welcome:

Hi everybody! So I didn't want to do an update until there was something a little substantial to see. Both plants are showing nice bud sites now. The Purple #1 is the taller of the plants, scared she was a male at first lol. The Sweet Purple is the bushier plants, with less LST, and had more even bud sites. The plants just got their second dose of 12/12 nutes according to the fox farms feeding schedule, all at 1/2 strength.

These first six pictures are from 3 days ago (day 16)

...Patience is a virtue...

Hey everybody! I was just about to update when I saw your post grogreen, thanks for the great support! So today I will give the third week of 12/12 nutes :morenutes: according to fox farms. I think I will up things to 3/4 strength since the plants have been doing well. I took a bunch of pics to show how different the Sweet Purple is from the Purple #1. The sweet purple seems to be further along than the purple #1, lots more trichomes. Also the Sweet Purple is starting to show a beautiful purple hue around the buds, very nice looking! I took all these pics in no order, just trying to get good shots, enjoy!

In all the close ups the sweet purple is dark and purple in color, with the purple #1 being pale and almost yellow. and in the group shots the sweet purple is on the right with purple#1 on left. I will do some more defoliating when the sugar leaves get a little bigger. I am really aiming for quality over quantity, next grow will go for both!

So thanks for visiting y'all! Again, thanks grogreen for the support. Next week should be a good update after this beefed up Nutes feeding. Can't wait to see if the purple #1 turns a little purple for me lol. Happy growing y'all!

:high-five::420::Namaste:

Hey bro nice progress! Looking great! One suggestion, if your third week of flowering you should be hitting with full strength nutes, feed them bitches, they hungry! :morenutes: your nutes are your buds at this phase, more nutes=bigger buds....fulll strength buddy! Good luck! :thumb:

Lookin good. I've smoked a bunch of that Purple ..... that's good stuff. Pretty indica heavy. But sweet. Not much for strain reviews out there. Not many people seem to have heard of it.

:yummy: Day 33 of 12/12
...Just a little super-cropping...

Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by Mutt and grogreen, things are looking good. I did give the plants the recomended twice weekly feeding of FF trio, plants seem happy. The Sweet Purple is still triching up awesomely, while the Purple #1 is very slow to develop, I wish I had planted two of the Sweet Purples but live and learn. I have seen pics from other growers of the Purple #1 looking awesome, but so far my technique isn't impressing me with this strain. The Sweet purple is the nicest plant i have grown to date so i am proud of that.

So in some of these pics you will be able to see the few tops I super-cropped. Def one of the scarier things we do as growers, but if you do it real slow and you squeeze you won't break any stems. I can't wait to do one last big defoliation, prob on day 37 I will. and hopefully my super-cropping will let more light in. The differences in the awesome trichy sweet purple and the yellowy purple #1 are very clear lol. enjoy!
