The Change In Terpene Profiles Depending On Surrounding Predators

Hey Everybody, I'm trying to dig deeper into the Psychology of Cannabis. If that's even the way to put it..
I'm very intrigued by the history of the plant and how it has thrived being spread all over the world. In turn the plant has "learned" to produce certain turpenes for defense and survival. What is known?
Who is looking into this? How can we use the knowledge during plant production?
Can anyone help share some insight?

Really all of the training we do is imitating a predator attack. We're always tapping into the plants survival instincts. LST is basically a plant getting stomped on. Backbuilding is just like an animal taking a bite off of a plant and then the plant telling itself, " I need to produce more THC so the next time something starts eating me it'll get very intoxicated, forget where I am, and leave me alone." One could go on and on..
How does your technique(s) mimic natural scenarios?
