Brains Escape - 3rd Try With Quantum Boards

After some real poor growing starting off this year I flipped my last brains escape clone and my last indica bagseed clone to 12s last weekend. Figure ill give a journal a try again and hopefully not turn it into a crap show again.

Lights on 7a-7p they were under 3 big cfls and a galaxyhydro 300 until about 11am this morning when i completed building my QB light which i placed in my 3x4 grow room i completed just about 2 weeks ago. These plants had been vegging in a closet.

2 Quantum Board 304s running off an HLG-320H-C1400B.

Light is currently 24" above the canopy.

Room is an actual 42" wide hy 36" deep inside, little over 6 feet to the bottom of the scrubber.

Back wall and floor are cement, room is located in a somewhat climate controlled basement. It can get cold in winter but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

Left is Brains Escape, right is Indica Unknown.

Brains is in 50/50 mix of FF OF and HF w perlite.

Indica is more HF and perlite w just a lil OF cuz i ran out.

So far only nutes have been AN PH perfect Sensi Grow and a splash of B52.

Brains got plain water w some microbes tonight.

I grossly underestimated the QB and ran it up to 200 watts and burned the brains. Holy crap i wasnt expecting that, glad i didnt take it to 260.

I dropped it to 140 watts a few hrs before lights out, will check on it tomorrow after its sleep

The galaxy hydro is only there if i need a little more heat as winter comes.

Now im still a new grower and feel i dont know sh!t so feel free to give me any advice and tell me if im doing anything wrong.

Also, the brains has 2 clone sisters outside basking in the sun since July so it will be interesting to see how the QBs match the sun.

Re: Tryin to figure out Quantum Boards

Oh, and i should add that this is just kinda a "get used to the new room and lights" grow.

Once these two are harvested (some time in December i think) i should have something new ready, and i plan to do an Ebb and Flow for the next grow with the QBs. I kinda wanna try Royal Queen Sour Diesel.

Awesome. I have the 260 W as well plus I have 300w 6 cobs already from Timbergrowlights. I figured 24 inches seems about right and that's where I have been first week of flowering.

Nice man, ya i may add some cobs in the future., mines a lil different. Its got an hlg 320h c1400b...it will go up to 280 watts but i don't think ill ever need to go that high.

What watt range do you run at? 120 watts seems low to me but then again these things are crazy bright/efficient.

Do you slowy crank yours up through veg and continue to turn it up throught bloom? I dont wanna fly to close to the sun if you know what i mean, i burned em fast at 200 watts on day 1.

Ty.
I ran the 300 cobs for about a month then slowly turned on the QB but both are being dimmed slightly but not sure as to the wattage. They are 24 inches away and I have been having a few issues that I thought was a deficiency and still may be but now I think I remember plus reading the first couple weeks of flowering it's normal to have a little yellowing on new growth. But I will still run a little harder on my nutes. I think I was under doing it with canna a&b.

Ya its hard for me, im new to this and growing in general, and i went from a galaxyhydro 300 to dual quantum boards. Just trying to figure out the sweet spot

I grossly underestimated how much nutrients these plants would need under Quantum boards. I also didn't realize that letting it get into the 50s at night was a bad thing.

I didn't get any cal-mag yet, I just started giving it full nutrient feedings instead of quarter strength, although I did add some Epsom salts and its first full strength feeding.

I think I pretty much caused it myself when I misdiagnosed the cal mag phosphorus deficiency for nutrient burn and did a flush. Dangit!

Since then I change some things.

I added a space heater with a PID controller which keeps the room between 72 and 83 degrees.

I put the vent fan / scrubber on a timer it runs for 30 minutes and is then off for 60 minutes - repeat

But the plant was hurt pretty bad by the Cal Mag deficiency so it's still kind of looks like hell but it definitely is looking better, I think?

Here is the before/ day it was diagnosed pics.

This is where they are today, im assuming things are better, they look better to me. But since I'm still pretty new at this and I have trouble Discerning between "is there still a problem" or "they just look rough because they cant 100% recover from damage/stress"

They have had two feedings full strength of Advanced Nutrients Sensi Bloom pH perfect. The first of the two also had Epsom salts and B-52 added.

Do plants flower and finish faster under quantum boards? These things look a helluva alot farther along than the outdoor sister clones were at this point

I think im fighting a potassium deficiency now. I also think this brains escape is a finicky little bitch. This is a clone of a plant i started from seed in april, a seed from a questionable bank. I had a few probs w nute burn with the original so im wondering if maybe its just sensitive? I know that i grew it next to a different brains from a different seed and that brains had no problems but this one did. Also, the indica is doing just fine and has been treated no different.

Anyway, at this point im kinda just ready for some new genetics.

I gave it cal mag, wondering if maybe too much calcium, not enough humidity, too warm??....i dont know.

I gave it some part b of the sensi bloom and some overdrive. Both seemed to have high P according to the labels. Not sure what else to do aside from that.

On a brighter note all my new beans came in so now i have until the 16th to decide. I return from vacation on the 15th and plan to germinate 2-3 seeds then that will go in an ebb and flow i have almost completed.

Now i have to choose from
Pineapple Chunk
Gorilla Glue
Critical Kush
Green crack
Trainwreck
Sour diesel.

I need something to wind me down and make me sleep so im thinking about poppin a critical and a gorilla glue and running a few flower cycles with the clones.

I have had Critical in my garden for a year now, I love it , lots of leaves and easy to clone and train. I love your lights I need a QB ASAP now

I had a critical this year i accidentally nuked with nutes, I think because I underestimated how hot Fox Farm ocean forest soil is. But I was able to save it and get a little smokable herb off of it and I really liked it. I was amazed at how good it smelled and how fast it bloomed.

Day 44ish..... did a flush on the brains over the weekend. Then fed AN Sensi bloom a&b, B52, molasses, sensi cal/mag, and some great white. I think things have improved. I hope they are ok cuz they will be all alone on autopilot while im gone from day 46 to day 53. Gonna feed em the night before i leave, i think they will be fine.
