What age do you switch light from T5 to LED?

When do you decide it's time to switch from t5 to LED or to your HID bulbs? How do you decide this and what do you look for in the plant? Is it age or growth or both? This question is for both autos and photos.

Talk to a dozen growers and you get a dozen different answers. I believe it is totally up to the grower. You want a good healthy plant, at least 4 nodes before changing the type of light.

Changing intensity of light, IMO, should be done carefully, mounting the LED at a higher than recommended distance from the plants so as not to burn them. Then lower them gradually, as the plants adjust to the higher intensity.

It is the same principle as hardening up indoor seedlings for use outside in the garden.

Thank you for the reply. That really helps looking at the node growth, that gives me a good marker.

That makes sense about the light intensity as well. I didn't think about starting it a little higher so it doesn't burn.

Thank you again and happy growing.
