Any point to training like this?

I decided to play around with some training on my plants since I've already over-extended my veg. schedule by quite a bit. Just wondering what the effect will be on the plants. Looks almost like mainlining them. On one I just basically wanted to keep it on the same relative level than the rest so I anchored the main top down. Trying to keep a more even canopy. Some of the plants didn't really get topped/fimmed right but I'm still trying to pull the side-branches out. The one with the weird leaves, I think it's a genetic abnormality.

Anyway I don't really know what to expect, haven't done any training like this before. Just wondering if I should expect my anchors to work, how it will work once I flip to 12/12, etc. Will the plants eventually take on this shape on their own and not need the fishing line holding them down?

I tried to use two quick-ties sunk in the dirt as an anchor, and then the fishing line goes under that and around a thumb-tack pressed into the pot. I can pull the line on the tumbtack and the friction holds it at the right level. I plan to add slack in the same way. So far they've held well but I think I'll probably have to readjust them a lot.

Looks like the beginning stages of a mainline/manifold

If thats what your aiming for there are tons of benefits to growing that way look up shaggn grow on here he manifolded his whole grow of moneymakers and whitewidows i believe
His grow is absolutely jaw dropping when you see the end results of a manifold

Not So Rookie Anymore

mine in veg still and if i untie her she will be straight into the light the next day. i have to keep adjusting them. i wish they got hard enough to stick in place but with mine it seems even once they feel hard and sturdy if you do untie they will just go right back to it.

well if you don't top your plant there is numerous ways to grow . All your doing is losing valuable vines and at the end bud when u top it if u ask me . I'll take a couple more photos

I would use something thicker than fishing line it could cut into the stems I use rubber coated wire
