Insomnia

I have really bad insomnia also and I have heard Night Nurse is supposed to be a really good one for it. I plan on getting some beans and giving it a try soon. I liked Candy Kush a lot and after an hour or so I felt so relaxed it was easy to go to sleep. Check out the medical strain review on here as they have some great real world results not just a seed companies marketing. Best of luck to him and you as well.

Thank you for answering my query. Marijuana will be legal in Canada, April/2018. Hope to be able to acquire these strains then.

Sure, I am new to growing and smoking as well and this place has a great source of info and the people are really good about helping out. Insomnia can be brutal mentally. After a day or even two without sleep my mind can go to some pretty dark places. Having a great wife and family keeps me sane some days. The VA hospital prescribes tons of heavy anti-depressants for insomnia and they made me feel out of control of my own thoughts so I can't take them. I would much rather just deal with the pain and insomnia and still feel like I am in charge of what I'm doing. I wish we could follow Canada's lead and go legal here but the big pharma and tobacco lobbyists are so powerful I am guessing it will take awhile for federal legalization.

As an insomniac myself, and also suffering from a condition in blind people called Non-24, in which your day and night clocks get reversed, I have a couple of suggestions for strains themselves for you. May I suggest one called blueberry kush, which has a wonderful Berry flavor with some kush flavored undertones that relaxes the mind and the body. In actuality, any strain with a good amount of kush genetics will help with calming the mind and body and helping induce sleep. Indica strains and indica dominant hybrids, as mentioned previously, are very good for sleep. I only suggest that you get strains that are heavy or pure indica. Girl Scout cookies is another good example. I hope this helps.

That's good to hear about both the haze and GSC. I have a Liberty Haze in veg and also a GSC in veg too. Both hopefully will have room in the flower tent in about 3 weeks. Then it's a 8-10 week wait to sample them, arghhhhh I need to learn patience.

In my experience (and I have had more than I care to remember), the best treatment for insomnia isn't medication but instead to deal with the stress that has you so hyper-vigilant that you can't sleep.

There are "sleep clinics" in most major cities that can help, as well as sleep specialists.

For me, dealing with my chronic insomnia meant leaving a high prestige, high salary job that I hated. That was hard to do, but after a enough sleepless nights, what price sanity?

I hope your hubby feels better soon. Good luck and sound sleep! :)

PS: Regarding strain recommendations, you might want to take a look at the strain names link in my sig file...

The mental stress can be dealt with for some but for others it can be due to chronic severe pain or nerve issues that cause spasms which make it hard to sleep. Also PTSD can cause some really bad dreams and either wake you up frequently or make you not want to sleep sub-consciously. It's different for everyone I think and there are a lot of ways to cope, pot just being one of them.

Those are good points. Thanks for clarifying that.

I do hope that all those who are self-medicating are also reaching out for professional help. There are caring professionals out there who can and want to help.

Should be easy to learn patience. Judging by the handle, you've spent time hurrying up to wait.

Its the night terrors from PTSD that wake me and put me off sleeping. Most people get to die once, I do it 3 to 5 times a night !!! Its screwed my life right up. I wake in abject terror (I was trapped under a kayak in rapids, I had to snap my leg to get out) I relive that event every single night. I found MC really helped me sleep much longer, removed the intrusive nightmares and I actually felt human in the morning.

Do you like to fish?

Yeah, it seemed sometimes that was my MOS....waiting, until they wanted us to move out. Then you had to haul ass or beat your face.
