Keratin in soil grow question

I keep snakes, which means I have snake sheds....I have been collecting them for quite a while and they just keep coming and each gets bigger....
Besides using them to rid the yard of gophers, I was thinking I could use them ground up in my soil to add Keratin.
Upon research the Keratin is very slow to break down so thought it might help late in veg/early in flower to add a source of slow silica or nitrogen.

Was also thinking I could start the breakdown process in another container and used the broken down keratin in the soil....

So yeah, I want to use snake byproduct in growing my medicine....snake oil if you will....
Before you ask, snake poop is not good for plants....too hot...

Have you thought about chopping them up into several pieces and mixing them into your compost pile? They might break down faster (and more completely) in there - while giving your compost a boost.
