Help! Newbie needs advice on wiring a ballast

We're building an indoor growbox for the first time (after years of growing outdoors) and we need to know what type of cable we need to wire up our 600w ballast. And we live in a flat - can we plug it straight into our normal household plug? Please help us out - please, please, please.

Some ballasts are 220v some are 110v, they have to be matched to the voltage you've got...

I should have said, I'm in Spain, and the ballast is actually 230v. I was just nervous because we haven't wired anything big since we lived in England 30 years ago and we rewired the kitchen in our flat.
