This is my first grow so I'm attributing this little surprise to the CMH, but more experienced growers may be able to confirm or correct my claims below.
BTW I was in the air about picking up a CMH vs Perfect Sun Dwarf Star, but my local shop gave me the setup for $300 out the door, so I jumped on it.
Well, I thought I was in the last week of flower according to time. Unfortunately, and surprisingly throwing in this CMH seems to have triggered an extra boost of growth. The unfortunate part is that I started to flush thinking I was done. At week 8.5 of a 8-9 week strain I put this CMH light in and low and behold the girls got a burst of growth. The topped girl in the second set of pictures grew 2in. in height, a noticeable increase in girth, and an increase in Trichome production. The CMH also penetrates like crazy! The smaller buds at the bottom turned from airy popcorn buds to dense little marbles.
BTW they were under a Mars II 400w paired with a Mars Hydro 300w for about 99% of the grow. I honestly didn't think throwing in this CMH would affect the plants at all. However, hats off to the Mars II 400w. It did a great job, as the top colas were hard as a rock prior to CMH being installed. Pretty damn good for $160 LED, but I couldn't even imagine what this CMH would have done if I started off with it. Can't wait till harvest so I can get on with my second grow. I do have to account for the increase in temp though. With the LED's my highest temp was 80*F with a normal range of 67-77*F (19-25*C). This CMH has brought the temps to 75-87*F (23-30*C) with a high of 90*F (32*C). Hopefully the temp. will be easier to manage once my 3x3x7 gets in.
