St. Louis: Group Marches To Arch Advocating Legal Cannabis Use

Hundreds in St. Louis marched to the Gateway Arch advocating legalizing cannabis.

Cities all over the world are having marches of their own this Saturday.

People marching want marijuana legalized for medical and recreational use. The crowd gathered at the Old Court House to share their testimonials

Nearly 300 cities worldwide, including St. Louis participated in the 17th annual Global Cannabis March. Participants say it's a cannabis freedom march that will end at the bottom of the Gateway Arch for a rally.

Organizers say the Global Cannabis March helps raise awareness about the benefits of cannabis and downsides of prohibition since 1999.

Last month, the Missouri House of Representatives voted against a bill that sought to allow the use of marijuana outside of the FDA approval process.

Keeping Missouri Kids Safe a newly formed coalition of citizens from drug prevention released this statement concerning the march, "marijuana is not medicine and should be put through the strict FDA process just like all other drugs".

The group also says citizens shouldn`t be fooled by the group's strategy,

No marijuana is not medicine. It is a slang word used to demonize the race that used it back when it was made illegal. Cannabis is the proper name. It been used in medicinal forms since the 19th century in our country. But, God forbid anyone learn something new, instead of continued spouting of mindless phrases about it! It is real strange that these people want to maintain the status quot, letting drug dealers supply their high school-ers with a drug that would otherwise be less available to them in a controlled market! Their kids get it easier than they can booze and cigarettes. But, they seem to be so poorly informed. They don't have a clue!
