Springfield - The medical marijuana business has been good so far, and others are hoping to join in on the success.

A second medical marijuana dispensary in Sangamon County moved one step closer to fruition Thursday night.

The Grandview village zoning board agreed to change a zoning ordinance for the village to allow marijuana dispensaries in the Grandview commercial district.

The company, Maribis, is looking to locate to Springfield's north side.

The goal is to be open by Labor Day.

The village's president says with a new business like this the potential for new revenue could be a big help.

"Any time the village of Grandview can bring businesses into the village for some extra sales tax revenue we are very grateful for that," said Mark Woolen.

Woolen says the issues will be voted on by the village board on July 5th and he expects the matter to receive village board support.
