The Gold Country Chapter of Women Grow, a national professional network supporting female leaders and entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry, is hosting a "Conversation on Cannabis" Oct. 6 at the historic Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. Steve DeAngelo and Hezekiah Allen will speak their minds on all things cannabis: changing trends, regulations, the cottage industry, the politics in California and the future of cannabis. The audience will also get to participate in a question and answer segment.

DeAngelo is a national cannabis thought leader who has inspired millions throughout his four decade career as cannabis activist, advocate, entrepreneur and educator. He has founded many successful, socially responsible ventures including Harborside Health Center, the largest medical marijuana dispensary in the world and considered to be the model. He is co-founder and president of the Arcview Group, the largest angel investment network in the country. He also co-founded the first laboratory, Steep Hill Labs.

Allen is a third-generation and lifelong grower who moved from his ranch in Humboldt to focus on public policy. As the executive director of the California Growers Association he works to understand and balance the interests and perspectives of several hundred cannabis growers and business owners. His work is focused on building a small-business and grower friendly, regulated marketplace for cannabis in CA. Allen has also worked on forestry, water and transportation policy.

"It's going to be an incredibly stimulating and informative event," says Co-Chair Ella Alpina. "The Nevada County growers' community has mixed emotions and many questions, for which they need answers."

The "Conversation on Cannabis" public discussion and networking event is from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Nevada Theatre, 401 Broad St., Nevada City. For more info and tickets go to Upgrade your browser.
