Raleigh police arrested a 23-year-old man Sunday night for having what they said was about 6 pounds of marijuana in an apartment in the same Wolf Glen Court complex where a man was fatally shot earlier in the day.

Police said the drug was in an apartment at 5906 Wolf Glen Court, where Barry Carnell McCRae Jr. lives.

Arrest records, which say McCrae is a junior at Shaw University, show he was arrested at the apartment a little after 11 p.m.

About 3:15 a.m., police had answered a call about a loud party in the 5900 block of Wolf Glen Court, which is a group of apartment buildings on either side of a parking area off Wolf Wood Drive.

They found Quentin Quante Judd, 23, wounded. He died later at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh.

Judd had played basketball for Shaw.

Police said they were treating his death as a homicide.

On Saturday, Cary police filed additional marijuana charges against a man from Idaho whom they had arrested Thursday afternoon at the Red Roof Inn at 1800 Walnut St.

Gabriel Michael Downey, 27, who told authorities he lives in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, was served with a warrant accusing him of possession of 4 pounds of marijuana with the intent to sell it. and with using the hotel room as a place to keep and sell drugs.

On Thursday, police had charged Downey with felony marijuana possession.

Police said they were called to the hotel because of a strong odor of marijuana there.
