The committee ironing out the details of implementing Maine's new marijuana law just approved a draft bill overwhelmingly.

Instead of a much talked about and debated 20 percent sales tax, there will be a 10 percent sales tax.

There will also be an excise tax, $1.30 per pound of processed marijuana, that is expected to raise as much money as the 10 percent sales.

Another major development in this bill, the committee is limiting the amount of marijuana retail licenses a person can have to four.

Lawmakers hope the legislature will vote on the marijuana bill at a special session next month.
