NE: Interstate Traffic Stop Nets Nearly 50 Lbs Of Marijuana

The Nebraska State Patrol seized nearly 50 lbs of marijuana in a traffic stop near Cozad.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8th a trooper pulled over a 2008 GMC pick-up for a headlight violation.

During the stop, troopers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and conducted a search. 48 lbs of the illegal drug were hidden under a sheet of plywood in the bed of the truck. There was also more than an ounce of marijuana and drug paraphernalia found behind the driver's seat.

Curtis Dewayne Dixon, 60, of California was arrested for possession of more than one pound of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp and a violation for improper vehicle lighting.

Dixon was booked in Dawson County Jail.
