How's it going everyone, Happy New Year and happy growing to all. This journal will show off what a new Mars Hydro 144x5 reflector series can do. I am a new Mars Hydro user, but this will be my 4th grow overall. I will maintain weekly updates and pictures and any questions/comments/etc is highly encouraged and always welcomed. I am excited to see what the new light is capable of and my personal goal is 10-16oz dry from 2 plants. So lets get this party started.

What strain is it?
Berry Bomb (Bomb Seeds)
Is it Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? What percentages?
Hybrid, Mostly Indica
Is it in Veg or Flower stage?
Germination
If in Veg... For how long?
Hopefully will be starting week 1 on Monday 9 Jan 17
Indoor or outdoor?
Indoor, inside a 2x4x5 grow tent.
Soil or Hydro?
Hydro using 5 gallon DWC. I use store bought R/O water throughout the entire grow.
Size of light?
Brand New Mars Hydro Reflector 144x5
Is it aircooled?
Yes, positive suction using 6in 240CFPM fan/filter combo that is outside the tent.
Temp of Room/cab?
70-80 F
RH of Room/cab?
30-50%
PH of media or res?
5.8 is ideal, but 5.6-6.1 is tolerated
Any Pests ?
None yet, lets keep it that way
How often are you watering?
I will be changing the water weekly for cleaning/feeding but will add water as needed throughout the week
Type and strength of ferts used?
I will be using the General Hydroponics 3 part series. I use hydroguard to keep my roots clean, I use CalMag throughout the entire grow and will use Liquid KoolBloom and Terpinator while in flower.

So there are the basics, I will give detailed accounts of the entire grow, along with plenty of photos. So lets see what we have so far.

Here is the setup with lights out/on

Berry Bomb, floated for 24 hours.

Seeds were then placed directly into grow plug

The light is hung 24in above the buckets. It keeps the plugs warm, but can dry them out so ensuring they stay moist is key. I hope to have new growth soon and the buckets will be started soon after.

My "Nutes"... I will be posting all feeding details weekly.

So for now thats everything. Obviously once the seeds pop things will get more exciting. So until next time thanks for checking things out and happy growing to all.:passitleft:

Am interested in dwc ing, cheers

Still waiting for them to break soil, but sitting with them smoking and listening to music. I try to spend time with my plants daily. PH checks, smoke sessions, music the entire process is super calming. A split between rap and classic rock are the tunes of choice for the plants.

Got bored yesterday and made "blue dream" chocolate chip cookies. For a daily smoker a single cookie gave a 4 hr ride .
I'll update more once things get going but DWC tip of the day. Wash wash wash your pebbles, then soak overnight prior to planting. I also sink my airstones the night prior. Take it easy and happy growing

1 of the plants was up this morning so I have set up both buckets.

Using R/O water I fill to the bottom of my grow plug to keep it moist. I added 8ml of hydrogaurd and 4 tsp of cal mag to both buckets. I'll add nutes later this week as an "official" starting point.
Temps are 70-80 Rh is low in the 30's, but I'm not concerned. I will spray the plants daily with water, so I think it works. Lights are running 18/6 at 24' in the veg setting. I'll post more when # 2 shows up. Take it easy.

let the fun begin, indeed, well done friend,,

one thing, maybe,, when you spray those plants, the lights must be off till they completely dry,, the led lights are so intense,,

and i am curious if you are checking the reservoir temp,,

cheers friend,, onward and upward,, indeed :goodjob:

Today marks what I'm calling "Day 1" Unfortunatley I still only have one seedling, but the other can catch up as needed. The grow plan is 4 weeks in veg and 8-10 weeks in flower with time to dry, and weigh before 30 April.

I am doing a very simple feeding schedule as shown here. Today I added 10ml of the 3 part series to the water which already had cal mag and hydroguard. The PH has been pretty stable around 5.8.

The 1st little girl is looking strong, hopefully she will have company soon.
31968.JPG

Cant complain so far, temps are reasonable, to the question of checking water temperature...I do not. I find the tile floor my tents are on help keep it relatively cool. I haven't had any root issues in the past, so hopefully that streak continues. So Thursday will become the official Update day, with any other updates added as needed.

So today brings both good news and bad...

The good news...
31970.JPG

We now have 2 plants in the tent....The bad news is that the 2nd Berry Bomb seed never took and the plant in the pic is a backup Afghani Reg I threw in a few days ago...just in case. Im glad to have a 2nd strain, and I'm glad it's only a week behind, which won't matter much in the end. Hopefully it is a female.

The other cool part is we get to see a 1 week difference in the Berry Bomb. She has nice roots already and looks good so far.
41523.JPG

So there we have it. I will update on Thursday with pics during weekly feeding/bucket cleaning. Side Note...the plants have been under the 144x5 for their entire growth. I have seen quite a few who believe that LED's are to strong for seedlings, but I believe I can show you 2x that it works just fine. The lights are at 24'. So thanks again for checking this out and happy growing to all. Take it easy.

Smoking your old plants while watching your new ones grow... life is good.

So here we are at the beginning of week 2 in veg. We have the Berry Bomb on the left and the Afghani Reg on the right. The buckets were cleaned yesterday and both plants are being fed per 4 gallons of R/O water. Things seem to be going well, I will give it a full week for the next update to take advantage of the changes in just a week at a time.

Here is the Berry Bomb

And here is the Afghani

I've been rotating the lids 180 once a day, I will try to maintain this practice throughout the entire grow. So thanks again and take it easy. Happy growing.

DWC is cool. Only downside is there is not much wiggle-room for mistakes. I did some fuck-ups because of wrong pH and too much nutrients before I got the hang of it. Growing in soil now for the main grow-room and hydro in the mother-tent

As far as getting a 2nd 144 in a 2x4 I think it would be overkill? Running 180/360 true watt in a similar tent with great results. So I have faith in the single light. I do think 3x144 in a 5x5 would def be a future setup I could go for. I'm excited to see how things stack up. Based on a 10 week flower...I will be chopping on 4/20...very appropriate.
DeVille your setup looks amazing. You have beautiful plants. I have the privilege of getting to spend a lot of time with the plants every day and I love taking advantage of it. Keeping up with p/h and keeping the rest simple can really have great results, hopefully I can show that here.
Take it easy everyone, I'm going to top the BB tomorrow (2weeks from seed) and because of a trip to Jamaica on Thursday .
I'll be clean/feeding/updating this Wednesday. Until then happy growing.

Heading to Jamaica tomorrow so I took advantage of the early morning to feed, the ladies and do a little customization to the buckets.

Keep it easy...both plants started the 3rd week in 18/6 feeding schedule, I plan on running both bloom and flower switches next week for the final week of veg.
Temps have been cool at night and max of 80 during the day. RH has settled in at 40-50% No pest or root issues so overall can't complain.

So here is the Berry Bomb at 15 days from seed. I topped her yesterday and she seems fine. Her roots are long and white and I'm excited to see the change when I get back on Sunday.

Here is the Afghani Reg that is exactly 1 week behind. I will flower both at the same time and because it's 50/50 m/f I don't mind the aggressive feeding to stay with the BB. I thought she looked small but looking back to the BB at 1 week I think this plant will catch up quickly.

Just a few pics of the plants under the light with the modified tomatoe cages added. All of my previous plants have grown rather large, I hope this helps when heavy branches start to lean.
So take it easy, happy growing and hopefully next week will bring some solid growth.

It's that time again for the weekly update. This marks the last week of 18/6 lighting for Veg and the plants will start the flower cycle next week. The only real change is that I have now added the "bloom" switch so the light is currently running at full power.

Here is the Afghan Reg at 15 days from seed. She is a week younger, but after this week I doubt you could tell.

420-magazine-mobile763334171.jpg

And here is BB at 22 days. She is very short and dense but still doing fine.
420-magazine-mobile1056342360.jpg

Here is the side by side
420-magazine-mobile1402013610.jpg

Full power should bring nice results for next week. So thanks as always for checking this out. Jamaica was a blast, a very green island. Take it easy and happy growing.

Today brings the beginning of flowering. The lights will go out at 1730 and be back on at 0530. Other than that not much new here. The extra power from the bloom switch was enjoyed by both especially the Afghani

420-magazine-mobile2043427610.jpg

As predicted the Afghani Reg a week younger is now larger than the older Berry Bomb.
420-magazine-mobile1931317444.jpg

420-magazine-mobile961136038.jpg

Here is the BB, I took a few lower fan leaves off but otherwise she has been left alone. Hopefully she stretches a bit in flower.
420-magazine-mobile541473631.jpg

420-magazine-mobile2065668906.jpg

Here is the Afghani Reg at 22 days from seed. Hopefully this shows signs of being a female soon.
Feeding brought the addition of liquid Kool bloom and terpinator. So today's feeding at 4gal of RO water was as follows: 8ml hydrogaurd, 4 tsp calmag, 24ml micro 24ml grow 40ml bloom 4 tsp KB and 40ml terpinator.
Future plans include a defoil at day 21 and 42 into flower.
So until next week take it was happy growing.
