First Journal: Mid Grow

BSbuds

The first time I ever tried growing Marijuana I took a dozen seeds I had collected from different bags of smoke my buddy had received from Oregon and threw them in some water. After a day I put them right into my soil and let them sprout under the worst light bulb in my apartment. I invested in a four foot, four bulb T5 setup and thought I was somehow king shit all the sudden. I used advanced nutrients to help keep Ph in range although I had no idea what that even meant back then. I mixed my nutrients with distilled water almost every time. I took many trips to Walmart. Besides being light and fluffy I was super stoked by what I had done. I was basically turning into a cannabis God. Ok, maybe not. But my first harvest ever ended up pleasing me...

I couldn't believe that I grew bud like that in my closet. Obviously I had no idea at the time how little I really knew. But damn was I hooked. Now I am obsessed. I am currently in the middle of my second, and third, grows if you count my other location. A buddy and I set up his shed so we could grow and flower in separate rooms creating a perpetual harvest. I hope to harvest around 3 to 4 plants every two weeks come summer. But before that here is my small tent grow with 5 raspberry cough girls and two random seeds that happened to be female. Lucky.

420-magazine-mobile1468660543.jpg

The tent is 4 feet long 2 feet wide and 5 feet tall. The ideal number of plants in my opinion would be less than then number I currently have in there but that is hindsight. I am using a 600 watt hydrogalaxy LED light with 2 supplemental CFLs.

420-magazine-mobile1354251858.jpg

I vegged for 30 days before switching to flowering and I low stress trained almost all the plants. I use a small inline booster fan to remove the old warm air from the top of the tent. After seeing how freaking big the other fan and filter was I bought for my other space, I figured I could get something a little smaller for the tent lol.

420-magazine-mobile853894016.jpg

I switched the lights on January 29th so I have a little ways left to go but so far so good. Dealt with a few nutrient problems but I believe I got them under control.

420-magazine-mobile585195322.jpg

Now when it comes to my other location, I can probably offer more advice on what not to do rather than what TO do. I dealt with bugs, cold, heat, electricity problems amongst other things. Started again with random seeds weeding out the males. I let them veg outside during June and while they were sitting in my dad's backyard on an old pallet I believe they picked up some unwanted guests.

I ended up releasing about 1500 ladybugs once I found the first spider mites. And when we chopped I just bleached the crap out of the room and cleaned the equipment. It worked. Oh I also did a hot pepper rub and almost choked to death. Didn't turn off fan ha.

420-magazine-mobile1341645381.jpg

These plants were grown with bad soil in hot summer Temps and had bug problems so I only got 4 ounces off 9 plants. Which is terrible but it fueled me to my next attempt. I have to travel back and forth and sometimes don't get to touch them everyday. This makes small problems worse sometimes. You gotta touch everyday. But some nugs really turned out stellar.

First journal - mid grow cont.

Well I already discussed a little about my current raspberry cough grow in my last journal entry so here's what else is going on. Kaboom and some white widows. 2 of the 3 kaboom plants were sent to flower on January 18. The other, along with 4 white widows plants, we're put in the room on February 9th. The pics are a little older but when I get home from this work trip I'm gonna post updated photos. Using a small heater to combat the cold weather outside the shed and it's a steady 75-78 degrees.

And the white widows are the 4 smaller ones..
420-magazine-mobile1578321921.jpg

In the grow side we have 10 white widows beginning to veg and I will begin working in some raspberry cough clones soon.

Thanks for reading will update soon with fresh flower pics. Peace.

Not much change in the raspberry cough tent but being away for work I wasn't able to check and am having some foliar issues but I believe it may be Ph which is possibly effecting it's uptake. Any ideas? ..

Now the kaboom, this is becoming my favorite so far and I've only harvest twice before. Neither were very good but I'm learning. These kaboom plants are giving me the satisfaction I've been waiting for as far as size and resin production. They have been 4 weeks in flower now...

Herroooo. Just a little update on the grow side of things. Decided to top about half of these white widows and am going to start training some periodically. I want to push them through to flower at different times. Added some invigaroot, mykos, and azos. No nutrients since a I mixed the soil. Peace.

Nice plants. It seems that we have the same story. Once you grow those first tasty nugs it can't be stopped. It's almost like the shops become "The Man" Good looking plants altogether. I cant wait to see how you finish these girls. :thumb:
Thanks a lot! Hopefully they return the love I put in. Peace.

Alrighty well I think it's time for a little update on the tent side of things. Haven't been home since Saturday night when my girlfriend went into labor. I had a son. Wooooot! It was a pretty amazing experience and I gained so much more respect for any woman who has gone through child birth.

The only downside to it was being gone from the house with no control over my grow. I wasn't too worried but they crossed my mind. I have some leaf issues going on but I believe I can diagnose correctly and get everyone looking healthy again. I'm not mad at the resin production from drying up a bit in their pots either. What a great defense mechanism...sugar

Here are some pics of the raspberry cough. 4 weeks and a few days into flowering and it's supposed to be a 9 week strain. I think I am going to take their clones that I have waiting for transplant (after I move) and put them in a scrog next time. Never done one yet and want to see difference in bud production. Anyways...

Congrats on the son, they're so much cheaper than the girls. I'm also glad I don't have to push a baby out, no thanx. Your plants look great. The only leaf issue I see is the burned tips which is most likely nute burn, especially since your leaves nice and dark green I can tell they're not being under feed. Try backing off the nutes just a little bit. You also have a few leaves with the serrated edges pointing up which might be genetics if your Temps are good. I have a strain that does that no matter what.

Edit... I took another look at your pics and I had to tell you how nice those buds look..:goodjob:

Yea I already have 5 sisters so he's a much welcomed little man. And thanks I'm still getting the hang of this so I appreciate the compliment. I'll keep that in mind about the nutes I definitely started them off too strong when they were young but I have been backing off a little each week. This is definitely a strain I want to keep going so I can play around with it.

My buddy and I started thinking we were cursed in the beginning lol but running Into problems early really helps you learn on your feet. And once I found this place to start journaling I have really picked up a lot more knowledge about different methods of growing and stuff. The rasp cough have about 4 or 5 weeks left to flower.
