Techman's New LED Grow — Journey To The White Light

My New LED Grow Featuring Ayahuasca Purple - Pineapple Chunk - Amnesia Lemon

I'm growing from seed and about 35 days into Veg as of today.

Greeting Fellow Growers. This grow will demonstrate how easy it is to grow with the proper LED Lighting. I also want to show off my new Lamp! I have been growing with LED's since 2013. I've tried several different panels and have had great success. I do have a few old journals here somewhere.

Everything I grow is used to make medicinal products for our own use and quality is foremost. What I've found is that LED's grown plants produce exceptional bud, heavy trichome production with wonderful flavonoids & terpenes.

I have 4 female strains from Barney's Farm: Ayahuasca Purple, Pineapple Chunk, Amnesia Lemon & Blueberry.

And 4 Hybrid's I inadvertently created: Blue Dream - Afghani - Skunk - Super Silver Haze (I'm hoping these are all female. I never had a male then one grow "Poof" Seed Everywhere)

I will be using Pro-Mix Media. General Organics Nutrients (Full Line) with added bat guano and molasses during flowering.

The lamp (recommended by my European friends) is a 650w LED using 6 Cree COB, 96 Bridgelux 5w LED's and secondary 90-degree optical lenses for penetration. Amps at full power is around 5.6 for 110v. The "Suggested Coverage" during flowering is 4x4, we will have to see. The lamp also has a simple built-in timer.

What's different right away is it's not the typical red/blue color used in traditional LED Lamps. Veg mode to my eye is totally white light. Reds and Blues are added during flowering but the lamp output remains white to the eye.

I'll probably only post every week or two with updates but feel free to comment as I will be monitoring the Journal.

Expected run time is another 30-45 days for vegging, then 55-65 days to harvest. They have only been under this new lamp for a few days since It just arrived. They were sprouted under a little 90w mostly red panel for the first month.

Wish me Luck and enjoy the Journey........

April 30th update — 23 days under the P6 LED

This lamp is pretty strong. I've had to move it up twice already. It maxed out at now so we will be lowering the plants soon.

There is very little stretching going on. The plants are staying very compact, except for the Blue Dream, but there is no stopping that one. The talks are very thick at this point. I have defoliated a few times so the lower branches can shoot up at which point I'll take a few clones.

I have a couple showing heat stress and some deficiencies I haven't been able to rectified yet. Once we transplant into some fresh Promix we should get it straightened out.

I'm excited to see this lamp working so well, I can't wait to see the results in flower. What I can say is that the COB's really give off some heat. Good air flow is a must. The fans seem to run slow on this model so again good air flow is a must. As far as the built-in time, it's doing just fine no complaints other than no memory, if the power goes off you have to reset it. I wouldn't recommend this lamp for a grow tent, it's made more for the larger greenhouses with good AC.

Update 5/21/17

44 Days under the P6, 81 days total veg. The Plants have been re-potted and remain under 18hrs of light. (COB Only)
perhaps 1 or 2 more weeks then a switch to flower mode and 12/12 light cycle. Everything is looking very well.

6/11/2017 Update - Sorry for the delay, I had to clean and remodel the flower room. But its all good now. The plants were transplanted into 5 gal pots and switched to 12/12 using the built in timer. The lamp is running at full power now adding blue and red with the COB's.

This space is 10x5, and I am using only half for this grow. As you can see the lamp covers 5x5 very nicely. I am adding C02 since this is a closed space. This is an 8 foot ceiling, and most of these plants are around 36 inches tall. Veg time was around 100 days.

Flower Day 26 - Grown from seed under the SunPlus P6 COB LED. As you can see this Lamp has preformed exceptionally well from veg and into flowering week 5. I did let the plants get a little bigger than I intended, however this will be a really good test of the lamps penetration. You can see the flowers are looking wonderful and the trichromes are building up nicely. I have included plenty of pictures for you enjoyment. Thanks for viewing and feel free to comment or ask questions.
