TokaM0n's 400w 4x4 Tent Soil Grow

Welcome to my journal!

This is my first grow and started it about 20 days ago from seed. Right now I have 6 plants growing in a 4x4 tent under a 400w MH. The 6 plants include:
  • White Widow (Received from a friend) 2x - Reg
  • Mystery bag seed 1x - Reg
  • Maui Wawi (Nirvana) 1x - Fem
  • Critical + (Dinafem) 1x - Fem
  • Red Leicester Tease (Dr. Krippling) 1x - Fem
The Maui Wawi was a purchase that came with the RLT and C+ as freebies. The WW came from a friend, and well...The bag seed is a bag seed. I planted the WW and mystery seed first since I valued the other three more as they're feminized. Also would rather have a fatal mistake happen to the first three and hopefully not repeat it to the younger three.

I have no previous growing experience so this will/has been a learning process from start to finish. Fingers crossed I at least make it to harvest. I started out with no equipment and probably should have waited, but they already take long enough from seed as it is. Below is all of the equipment that I am using:

Hood - XtraSun 64 Air Cooled Reflector - 6 inch
Lightbulb - Xtrasun 400w MH Sky Blue 7200k
Ballast - SG Lite Switchable MH/HPS 400w Magnetic Ballast
Tent - 4x4 Vivosun
Bucket Size - 2 gallon
Medium - Fox Farm Ocean Forest
Lights - (1) 400w MH
Nutrients - None yet
# of Plants: 6
Yield : Fingers crossed for more than 10...is between a HP and P a "pipe dream" without experience?

So the plan is to veg these 6 plants under the 400w MH and then switch to a 600w HPS for flower. All of which will be taking place in the single 4x4. I may try and start a second veg tent and appropriate my 400w for that since its more suitable. Then keep the 4x4 for flower. Still waiting on the ventilation system in the mail and a thermometer (IK Ik, I should wear a scarlet letter for not having one in there already). I've been going off the "if its to hot for me it too hot for them" thing and it gotten me by thus far.

As far as water is concerned I am watering every 3-5 days with a PH between 6.5-6.8. I haven't checked the soil PH in 10 days but it was 6.5 when I did. I have not fed them anything yet, or even decided what I wanted to use. Any recommendation would be a big help. As well as when it would be optimal to start feedings.

Update 5/15/17 - Days 21/12/10

All of the plants are looking good with he exception of two. One of my white widows seems to be struggling a bit. Has been since yesterday morning. I am not too sure what triggered it but it's still droopy and one of the leaves showed some discoloration.

The second one is my Red Leicester Tease, and it's growing pretty well minus the fact that some of the leaves are deformed. Is this normal? Crappy pheno?

Aside from those two the rest are looking perky.

If everything is ideal you can expect 1 gram per watt... so 10 zips would only be .7 gpw. If those are all females and you can use all the available light I dont see a problem with you getting close to 14.

No worries, going to probably start feeding them pretty soon. Have you used any nutes that you prefer?

well IM still on my first grow man, and im using coco as a substrate, so Im using canna coco a&b right now. THings seem to be going smoothly. I had a little calcium problem not too long ago, but I ended up finding out that it was because I was adding calmag unnecessarily. So Im jsut feed about 500 ppms of canna coco ab now.

I reckon whatever you get will be pretty good man. Have you got anything in mind?

Ive been wondering whether I should be using calmag. Yours seems to be growing really well. Ours are pretty close in age if I'm not mistaken. I've been lucky enough not to run into anything serious thus far. Only trying out some questionable distances on my plants too early. I'm guessing they will start to show deficiencies pretty soon since there almost a month old. In regards to nutes I was looking at Nectar of The Gods by Oregons Only. Seems like you can't really go wrong with anything for the most part though.

yeah those nectar for the gods nutes do look pretty sweet. Man Im pretty sure they're sending out samples to peeps, as long as you pay delivery. I was gonna get samples myself but in ireland there some contraband things against one of their ingredients or something.

They look like pretty amazing nutes tbh. If I was in america I'd consider trying them out. Not sure how pricey they are though
