Soil, Blue Cheese In A 4x8 Grow Tent, July 2017

Hi guys,

My name is Double A. I smoke for years and I want to try to grow my weed. So, it will be my first experience. I will share it with you and I will try my best to succeed. I made my researches online, mostly here and I bought the best gear I could afford in regard of what I read. Obviously, all the comments all more than welcome!

Strain is Blue Cheese
Blue Cheese is a heavy indica strain that was created by crossing UK Cheese and Blueberry.
I started the grow on July 22th
I grow in a 4x8 tent.
I bought regular soil at the local shop.
I started with small size pot and I bought 2 bigger size for later.
I have two Mars Hydro II 900 LED.
The temperature in the tent is around 77 farenheit of 25 celcius.
The humidity is around 35-40%
I bought the 2 part nutriment series at Emerald Harvest.
I water them when they need it.
I will water then twice with nutriment and once without.

Day 1

I received the babies and transplanted them in the little pot. I watered them with water and Cali Pro grow A and Cali Pro grow B nutriments. I had 413 ppm, my pH was 6.1, temperature around 77/25, humidity around 40%. They were 3'' tall and I put the LED at 22'' from the leaves.

The nutriments I use

First question : Should I put 4 plants under each LED or 8 under one is fine for now ? Since they are very small...?!

Also, I tried to spray water on the plants and place a pot with water to increase the moisture but without result. I'm still at 35%. Any ideas ?!

Day 3,

I have noticed few brown spots on the leaves of one plant. I dont really know what it is. I'll do my research.
Otherwise, everything seems good. I didn't water them again since day one.
They have already grown by one inch.

Nice setup. They are pretty young. You could probably just put them under 1 right now to save power. I've never used led though. Just cfls and hps

No, its not my exhaust fan, its a 4'' ''inhaust'' fan. I use a 6'' exhaust fan with carbon filter. I have put the exhaust fan attached to the top of the tent.

I don't know if I really need a fan to push the air inside. I wonder if the traps at the bottom of the tent are made for that ?! The guy at the store told me it was better to have a fan pushing the air inside.
Since I dont know too much. I listen to him.

...what do you think ?

DAY 6

We are at day 6 already.


I didn't have to water the babies. The soil is still damp. They are all beautiful and green. They grew by about 1 inch. I keep the lamp at 22'' from the first leaves.

I thought they were going to drink faster. I expected to water them once every 2-3 days.

The job is more annoying than I would think lol

Okay, good! Always exhaust air from the top of the tent (where the hot air goes).

I don't know if I really need a fan to push the air inside. I wonder if the traps at the bottom of the tent are made for that ?! The guy at the store told me it was better to have a fan pushing the air inside.

It's not mandatory but it can help. In my case, my air intake is passive, meaning the exhaust fan pushes air out, creating a negative pressure inside the tent and making air come in through the traps at the bottom of the tent without any intake fan. In your case, you just need to make sure that your setup maintains negative pressure inside the tent (i.e. exhaust fan stronger than intake fan). If the walls of the tent bend in, you should be good. One thing though: You should put your intake duct through one of the bottom duct port in order to get cooler air from the outside.

They don't drink much in the beginning. When they're bigger, they drink much more.

Thanks for the quick answer. I have changed my intake duck for one of the bottom duck port. That's a good point.
I see what do you mean about the passive intake. Is that the norm ? What's the size of your tent ?
Also, I dont really see the the wall on the tent bend in so I will increase the speed of my exhaust fan.

I think passive intake is the norm for smaller tents. Mine are 2x2x4 and 3x3x6.

DAY 8

Whats up family.

I made some changes today.
First of all, I turned on the second light.

Yesterday I had watered them for the second time. According to the chart on the nutriment box, I have added 2 more nutriment. I assume the girls are at early vegetative stage right now...

The problems now :

First problem, I cant get the humidity over 35%. How big is this problem? I tried to water the leaves with a push push without any result. I tried to put a pot with water without any result. I think I will have to buy an humidifier.
Any other idea ?!

Second problem :

All the girls are between 4'' and 5'' and look in real got shape!
However, the one that I called AA is very short and has a darker green color. She is only 2.5'' tall. She also has few dark spot on the leaves.
Should I be worried ??

DAY 18 - TRANSPLANTING DAY

Hi guys,

This morning, when I went to see how my new children were going. I noticed that they looked sad with their leaves that seemed too heavy for them. I also noticed that they were thirsty and it was faster than usual. So I decided to look at the roots to see if it was time to transplant them.

I figured mayve it was time.

I followed the technique found in the transplanting section of the site. I watered with a push push few layer of the soil of the new pot to not too flatten it.

It was little bit messy at the end but in overall I think I did well.

The stem from the trunk to the leaf was red. I guess it was because they were thirsty.

The temperature is still around 24-30 celcius.
Humidity around 30-35%


I started to read about topping and training. And how to keep a mother for clones.
More on that later.

Whats up everyone!

Little update here. My women are in the middle of the 4th now! Day 27 to be more precise.
I read a lot about supercropping, topping, training, SCROG. It's all very interesting and I cant wait to read more. However, those babies are growing up fast and I'm still not sure what technique to use to optimize the space of my tent and to optimize the buds. If anyone wants to give me a tip by where to start, i'm open !

Also, I dont know why 3 of my 8 plants have started to grow very flashy green/yellow leaves...

I continue to follow the situation carefully and try to get as much information as possible on the subject.

Is it like a boron deficiency here ?!
A boron deficiency in cannabis is relatively rare unless a plant is underwatered or in a really dry environment, and is usually accompanied by other types of nutrient or pH problems that appear as problems with the leaves.
