Hi all, I'm back again after a long break, time to get a new journal started.

To anyone joining me from my original journal, welcome back and thank you for sticking with me. To all new arrivals, welcome to my wandering, ranting journey.

Let's start at the beginning, my grow area is 4' wide, 3' deep, and 5' high give or take.
My lights consist of a hodge-podge assortment of fluorescents of all shapes and sizes.
Main overhead lights:
-1x 200w (actual watts, not equivalent, this thing is a beast) Sunblaster cfl at 6400k center hung.
IMAG13935.jpg

-2x home-made 8-socket cfl array, each currently sporting a mix of 25-27w bulbs in 5000k, 3000k, and 2700k, approx 200w each for 400w total, 1 on each side of the Sunblaster.
IMAG13956.jpg
IMAG13946.jpg

600 true watts total.

Supplemental lights:
4x vertically mounted 32w 4' tubes, 2 in each front corner, currently all 6500k. 2 shown below.
IMAG13975.jpg

1x vertically mounted 54w Sunblaster 2' tube+nanoreflector, center of rear wall, height adjusts up and down on sliding mount. Also 2x 32w 4' tube horizontally hung over rear area, currently in 2700k
IMAG13964.jpg

246 true watts total.

Overall light in box around 850w, all fluoros.

Ventilation:
-exhaust is handled by my new 280 cfm Vortex 4" fan combined with my new Phresh activated carbon filter, ducted outside through the silver ducting to a well hidden but real looking dryer exhaust outlet.
-new air is brought in via the white ducting on the left, lets out at bottom. Also have some passive intake, box is not air-tight and exhaust keeps it at just slightly negative pressure in there relative to house, which is exactly what I wanted.
IMAG13719.jpg

Lights on temps hover around 80-85 F, lights off around 70 F

My growth medium is a hand-mixed "soil-less" blend, similar to SuperSoil but different enough:
-%33 Sphagnum Peat Moss (provides structure, water retention, capillary action, and Ph regulation.
-%33 Vermiculite (pretty much same thing as Perlite, for porosity and water retention)
-%33 mixed organic composts, cow, sheep, chicken, deer, shrimp and fish, general vegetable matter, worm castings, etc.
-%1 various amendments, powdered eggshell, used uncomposted coffee grinds, blood meal, bone meal, epsom salts.

And now of course let me introduce the ladies. First up, the Northern lights, all popped above surface 25/9/2017, all on day 20 in these pics. Props if anyone can name the franchise they were all named for without looking it up :)

And now the Early Miss, just doing 2 of these to fill up box space. This franchise should be a bit easier to ID. Both sprouted 02/10/2017. Day 13 each.

Tonks
IMAG13917.jpg

Ginny. She did not do well her first week, first 2 sets of true leaves were malformed, but she is stabilizing and looks alot better. Total runt compared to her sister tho.

A few overall shots with various exposure settings to give an idea what it all looks like.

That's about all for today, all comments welcome as usual.

Heya, yeah I use the bottom bins to catch runoff. And disposal is by delicately changing the catchers a few hours after watering when rotating the plant positions. I carefully pull everything out for bug/damage/etc inspection, then put it all back in in different order to spread light angles. The buckets were originally postal equipment bought at surplus equipment sale.

Another quick set of pics, did a bit more training. Nothing much else to report.

Day 14 for the EM:

Ginny still lagging way behind Tonks but her new growth finally looks normal and she's finding her legs.

Note, I just noticed I made a mistake in my starting post. In fact the Northern Lights all came above surface on 18/09/2017, not the 25th as previously stated. Currently on day 28. Early Miss is correct, day 14 there.

Today's update.

Day 34 for the Northern Lights. Gave them all a pretty good defoliation on day 32 to open them up and get more light into nodes. I've trained most of them as far "out" as space allows, now I need them to fill in and get taller.

Temps are still a bit higher than I would like but I've done all I can about it for now. Not much else to report, all appears well.

Well fuck me in the goat-ass. No doubt about it, Ginny went herm on me. Gotta find a way to get my temps down. AC not an option.

Yeah, not overjoyed about it but shit happens, I really am seeing what my friend meant when he said Crap King's genetics have gone down the shitter since the new owners took over. Will never buy their seeds again.

If a regular air conditioner is impossible search youtube for: Redneck Air Conditioner

It may be hoaky but worked for me during a heat spell.

Yeah, it's ugly as my high school prom date, but it would get me what I want out of the deal......again like my prom date.

Time for another update. Got my temps a bit more under control with a few kludges, need to get around to the redneck AC unit, just don't have materials on hand or time to go get them, but I'm stable under 80F now, which is alot better than the 85-90 I was getting a couple weeks ago.

Starting with Tonks, the only current surviving Early Miss. Day 39 above soil. Not particularly impressed with the EM so far, 1 herm and 1 underwhelming girl. Got 3 more of these seeds but don't think I'll do this strain again. Next run I reckon I'll go with Candy Cane or White Widow and fill the last 2 slots with more NL. Anyway here she is.

On to the Northern Lights, all day 53 above soil, getting pretty much exactly the same sort of plant veg. results as my last run, but the buds are ALOT bigger and denser so far. I included a standard sized Sharpie marker for size referrence in some shots. I guess more than doubling the wattage and upping the intensity and coverage had the desired effect :green_heart:

Got the same 2 phenotypes this time as I did last time, one is very Ind. dominant, the other is very Sat. dominant. Last time around the chunkier Indica buds hit harder, but the sativa buds tasted AMAZING and were still nice and strong. I look forward to taste tesing.

So here we go, starting off with the Indica types.
