Hi 420 mag! Back again for my 2nd grow Journal. Iv upped my game a bit since my last grow, 600w hps instead of the 400. Let's hope for some good results.
1 ) Space:3x3x7
2) Lights:
Veg: 2x 125w fluorescent hydrofarm grow lamps for the first 4 or 5 weeks then I'll switch to 600w mh for another 4 to 5 weeks.
Flowering: 600w air cooled hps.
3) Strain: Blue dream (Hybrid - Sativa dominant clone only)
4) Medium: VermiPro soilless organic grow medium. (Triple washed coco coir, the highest grade peat moss, aged softwood bark, perlite and mycorrhizal fungi.
6) Nutrients: Technaflora recipe for success.
7) Pot size: Rooted in rockwell, planted into solo cup. Then it will go from a 2.5 gallon to a 5 or a 6.5 I have not decided yet.
8) Current light cycle: 18-6
the blue dream are the 2 big clones in the front

I finally got my hands on some blue dream clones! Every time I tried to get them the place either " just ran out " or they had very poor reviews about mildew and Pests.lets hope all goes as smoothly as last time and I have no trouble, if so I know you guys got my back ! Happy growing to you all

Welcome heirloom!
I know how boring the first few weeks of veg can be. Here are some eye candy shots from my last grow "not journaled" it was the same genetics from my first journal. Skywalker an og 18 enjoy :)

Just keeping things interesting before tonight's boring veg update ! my flowering tent under the 600hps Here is some king luie- the shorter plant with huge buds in the front left. Girl scout cookies is the taller one in the back right. Front right and back left are og 18. I just love the private reserve and can't stop growing her.

Update day 3 veg: it's been about 3 days since I planted the blue dream into solo cups, Iv noticed the leaves are starting to perk up more and the growth has started. I gave them half a dose of nutrients each ph 6.8. The runt will be a mom and the big dog will be my monster scrog blue dream . Here is a pic of the blue dream.

Here is a pic of my og 18 " private reserve" mother and what I got in my veg tent atm. Yup that's an avocado and a granny smith apple I grew from seed in the blue solo cup. The rest of the clones are 2 girl scout cookies, 1 king luie and 3 private reserve. Hope the gods of the garden bless all of you along your journey and I will update again soon. Maybe I'll show you my California wonder peppers in my other closet next time :)

Cool, would love to see the peppers. Many here (including me) are avid gardeners of fruits and veggies as well as fine flowers. I also have farm animals...chickens, pigs etc.

I moved away from Cali this year. I think there are two things I will miss....good mexican food and abundant, cheap avocados.

In case you are not aware, if you upload a picture that is not cannabis related make sure you choose 'off topic' for the category, rather than 'member gallery'. You'll create work for the Mods who will delete the pic, then you'll have to re-upload and put it in the right category.

Awesome, me and my girlfriend have a nice organic garden outside. Thanks for the info on the off topic pics. I just happen to have that stuff in my veg tent so it will always have the main event " Cannabis" in the pics. But it's nice to know I can take pics of the other stuff and label off topic :)

Just a few pics before lights out. I love seeing how much the plants grow over night. Here are a few pics of the blue dream, starting to get some nice branches already.

Ran into some trouble with a leaky water try and had to clean a mess. Thought it was a perfect time to show off the king luie.

Sweet, thank alot heirloom. Those do seem pretty interesting and I'll have to check them out when I get some free time to mess around :), I'm sure you know tending to an indoor grow and an organic outside garden can be very time consuming. Picking bugs and weeds is a full time job haha. Thank you for the links. I'm sure my girlfriend will enjoy them too :thumb:

A little nug porn before the update. Unfortunately I am all out of nugs until my harvest in a few weeks, so I went to the club and they had 2 of my favorite strains there private reserve and blue dream :). I have done 3 cycle with the private reserve and I love to see how other people's final product came out. I just love blue dream so I had to get that and hope mine comes out this good.

update: day 4 veg
temps:85°f-88°f. it's been 100°f outside for the past week or 2. Rough keeping temps low but I manage to keep it under 90
Humidity:65% I recently put my humidifier in the tent to keep humidity high with the high temps.
Not much vertical growth but the leaves and branches are coming out more and that's exactly what I want. They took the half dose of nutrients well and will be ready to be watered again in a day or 2. My nutrient recipe calls for feed, water, water. I will only water once tho between this feeding because they only took a half dose of nutes. Normally works out for me. That's about all for today, I'm even more excited to grow this blue dream now that I am smoking some while writing this. :volcano-smiley:

Here are the pics, I decided to name the twins Patty and Selma (Marge's twin sisters from simpsons) so you guys can tell them apart.

Blue Dream. One of my all time favorite strains and a bay area staple. Cant wait to see how it goes. I'm in.
Glad to have you along cy, I knew there was something I liked about you :). Not too many of us enjoy a stinky sativa and blue dream is by far the best smelling and tasting bud I have come across yet, it's so unique.

I love blue dream. Wish I could find it in my area. I wonder how the Humboldt Seed Organisation Blue Dream Feminised Seed is. Anyone?
I have only grown from seed once! You guys are much better people than I am and much more patient haha. Glad you like yourself some stinky sativa too heirloom we are a dying breed :). I'm not sure how much I'd trust those genetics, blue dream is a clone only plant. Even if they did duplicate the seeds from a clone when growing the seeds each plant would be " different" in a way. The sativa - indica dominance could change, or it could be more blueberry than super silver haze or vice versa. I don't know a whole lot about seeding and genetics but I think this is how strains like "dream queen" "day dream" and so on came along, they had that nice blue dream taste or smell but just not 100% blue dream. If your parents had a child, what are the odds it would come out 100% like you? I think when sexing plants it's the same. No seed can ever duplicate the genetic splash that was created. This is just my theory on blue dream seeds, and what goes through my head when I see somone growing "blue dream" from seed. Like I said I am no botanist, I have never even sexed a plant or tried to mix strains, although it is something I really want to get into when I can get more room for males. Have you ever grown a seed yoy found inside an apple? Most likely if you were to grow the seed from an apple it would be diffrance from the Apple you got it from. Trees like granny smith, Gola, Fuji and so on I am pretty sure they clone them and mass produce from the same genetics for years. I believe weed is the same way :). Sorry to go on and on, it's a very interesting subject and I have been thinking if that for a long time. I'd love to order some of those seeds and see what pops up. Thanks for the link, I've been looking for a good seed spot.

How would I even pollinate one of my plants? And how do I prevent the rest of my buds from getting pollinated aswell? Can i wrap the nug I pollinate in plastic wrap? Or do I have to put the plant I am sexing in its own spot? I have 2 flowering tents so that would be possible. Also how far away do my good females and moms need to be away from the pollinated plant.

Haha, sorry soo many questions pop into my head on this subject. I'm sure there is already a post on it. Maybe cy can teach me a thing or two about the family business? :)

Rhetorical question, or would you like to do the math? :laughtwo:

You're welcome for the seed link. I've used Herbies twice, always with good results. Well, three times, I placed an order yesterday morning.

I'm not called Heirloom for nothing. Besides cannabis I grow lots of other things. Veggies, berries, fruits. I planted 12 new fruit trees this year, as well as pecan and walnut. Many fruit varieties commonly available are cuttings grafted to root stocks. They take the apple variety they want and graft it to different root systems based on what the final product will be (dwarf, semi dwarf etc) as well as better disease resistance than the cuttings native root system. As far as seeds, you are right. Most apples, and indeed other fruits (peaches, cherries) benefit from cross pollination with other varieties, and thus lose the ability to 'breed true'.

I am currently, finally, starting to collect 'land race' genetics. Afghani, Thai, African sativas, columbian etc. Will be keeping their lines pure and safe in my personal seed bank, as well as crossing and working on my own stable true breeding strain.

Here are a couple links to get you started...

No worries on the questions.

Methods of pollination are discussed in the links above. There are a few ways to go about pollinating a branch or even a bud or two while keeping the rest of the plant/crop sensimilla.

That's an awesome idea keeping a seed bank of the og strains. You never know... zombie Apocalypse . You will be the head guy in town haha. I am very familiar with grafting, as it is another thing I have been looking into. I just bought 6 fruit trees myself this year lol. They were on clearance for 5$ each.. could not pass that up.
