Alaska doctors?

Alaska residents voted for and approved medical marijuana back in 1999 give or take a year. In 2002 I injured my back and now have cronic pain and very painful lower back. The docs just love subscribing Fentanyl, Percocet, Morphine, Oxycontin and other nasty deadly drugs to try to keep my pain level down but I can't find any doctor in Alaska that will support me in obtaining the medical marijuany card for my pain. Most of these so called pain specialists here make me take a damn piss test and if I ever test positive for pot they will kick me out the door and let me suffer with no help or relief.
Even though Alaska does have medical marijuana approved by law no one in state government will help. Our governor has plenty of time to hang out with John McCain and look good but she's dead set against medical marijuana.
Has anyone in Alaska found a pro medical marijuana doctor? Any help or thoughts are mucho appreciated! Thanks, John :ganjamon:

i got the same problem. but my counsiler thinks it would be a good idea but i cant find any doctors that would be willing to. lett me know if youve found anything. thanx

U can grow 3 mature plants without worry of prosecution but I've been look for mmj doctors as well n I cannot find any in Alaska n I'm from near Fairbanks

A friend of mine called me last week and told me about this group. He is going to check them out this Friday, (March, 09, 2012), and will get back with me. They are going to be at the Millenium Hotel later this week.

The Healing Center Medical Clinic | Alaska Medical Marijuana / Cannabis Clinics

I've been told that they come up to Anchorage, AK once a month and hold their clinic. I understand that this will be their 3rd trip up.

I'll post an update when I find out more.

Well, my friend went to the clinic and within 90 minutes he had all of the paperwork signed by this doctor. Now all he needs to do is send it to the state with $25.00.
I still have an issue with my pain management clinic which makes me agree not to use any drugs other than what he prescribes and that includes medical marijuana. The clinic that my doctors works at requires all patients who must take narcotics to control pain must also sign a form that states the patient will not use any marijuana. What a bunch of shit!

The clinic is done for this month but they will be back on April 12, 13, 14 and 15 and instead of the clinic being held at the Millennium hotel they now have an office located at 733 West 4th Ave. Suite 308. :bravo:

yep i just joined this site to announce that as well. its on one of these pages about doctors in alaska. the ad i seen stated they will also be going to fairbanks and juneau. I've done this here in anchorage and i know of 5 others that have done this.

also if you have chronic stomach problems and have it documented you can have them prescribe for that reason, then when you take to your pain clinic you can tell them its not prescribed for the pain they are manageing. its for your other ailment. maybe they would let that fly? Its worth a try i think.....

I've tried everything with these so called health care professionals. I'm seeing a doctor at AK Spine Institute and they just don't give a damn. I told him that I had tried medical marijuana and that it helped a lot with my anger, depression and anxiety problems from living with constant pain, it also helps a bit with the pain. His answer: I'll be happy to prescribe more pills for you to treat these issues, but you either quit smoking right now or I'll stop seeing you. I don't want more damn pills. I don't drink booze anymore due to my pain meds but I did ask him what he would do if I drank a bottle of whiskey everyday, would he also stop seeing me for drinking a 1/5 bottle every day. No, of course not as it is legal. So is medical marijuana in Alaska.

Does anyone know of a pain management doctor in Alaska that maybe won't fill out the medical marijuana paperwork, but at least doesn't mind if I smoke it?

as for this question i dont think i know any doctor like that. even with the state id it is only a recommendation not a prescription so other doctors are in fear of upsetting dea i think?

so basically all docs i know of will fire you as a patient if your using med marijuana, most make u sign papers stating u will not use marijauna for your pains. or they will stop prescribing other meds.

thats y i thot about the stomach pain, that isnt body pain. maybe since it would be prescribed for your stomach pains that b a way around that.

so either u can try to b upfront with your doctors, i'd have my card first, or just dont tell em about ur med card and try to not have in ua during ua's.....

I hope this is some what helpful. sorry about your problems. i've had these issues and have lost doctors because of it and also labeled an addict. but whatever i am not giving in and i beleave soon enough the gov will help med cards rather then fight

Now that we have legalized recreational use, as well, have you had any luck finding other doctors who would sign the form?

AKGramma

No, I gave up quite some time ago on finding a doctor who would sign the form. Every doctor I talked to really did not know much about it and would say that they would not put their license in jeopardy by "prescribing medical marijuana". Not one of them ever bothered reading that they are not signing a prescription but just a form that stated that they thought it might work. They were prescribing high octane narcotic poisons for my pain and would cut me off if I tested positive for pot. So after putting up with their crap for way too long I bit the bullet and weined myself off those poisons and now use Lyrica and Tramadol and the pain doctor doesn't care if I use pot as long as I don't want those high octane poisons like Fetenyal, morphine, perocet and oxycontin. And I sure do not want those nasty drugs. I was told many times that my pain level wouldn't change much if I quit taking those poisons but of course did not believe it. I mean, if I hurt this bad taking those pain killers, (which of course stopped working after a while), I knew for certain that I would not be able to stand the pain. Well, they were right and I was wrong. Getting off those narcotics was the hardest and most painful thing I have ever done and took close to 3 months to clean my system but I am so glad I don't use that crap anymore.
Best wishes to you! John

I do know one legal solution. Go to the cannibus club website. They have a doctor listed who will sign. Unfortunately it is expensive, and Insurance won't pay for it. But you will be able to get your MMJ card.

As I understand the regs as they stand right now, a card is not required to grow your own, but you have to have the card to buy MMJ. I'm not clear on how one is supposed to take advantage of the card if buying and selling MJ is still illegal until the MJ control board irons out the regs. Looking forward to Nov 21st!

Congratulations for getting off the poison drugs! MJ is so much more natural, and you can regulate your own dosage as needed.

is there any point waiting for a card since it's legal? Might as well buy the stuff off someone who already has a card.

A good point. Also, I hope, when the regs are finally ironed out, that getting a card won't be mandatory to growing your own. I don't like being registered on a governmental list, where they will be poking into my personal life.

Thanks. But, even if it is mandatory to have a growing card, do you think the police are gonna be able to do anything? If you are growing weed, and the entire neighborhood smells like dope from other smokers houses, how would the cop know you are growing? For all he knows, your house could be the sober one on the block. Not like he can get a warrant to search.

There is no longer any need in Alaska for paying some doctor an outragious fee for the so called medical permit. It is now legal here to grow your own and in the not too distant future there will also be businesses that will sell marijuana here. Finally, people who do vote had their say in this matter!
