Opioid Addiction, MedMar & Drug Tests

Hi everyone,

I was prescribed Fentanyl and Oxycodone for chronic pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, and arthritic joints. That was back in January 2001. Yeah, I've been on it a long time. But I've been able to stay at the same dose now for over 7 years, and that's a lower dose than in 2008.

I've been to a new pain specialist who believes that all my chronic pain problems are not from Fibromyalgia, but from using opioids. He really didn't check my history, if he did, he would've seen I've been dealing with pain issues for 16 years before I was prescribed opioids.

I know I'm physically addicted, especially after years of using both meds. That's why I want to stop both, or at least the fentanyl. And try Medical Marijuana - I've read a lot on the subject and how it does help fibromyalgia patients.

Anyway, He wants to try nerve ablation to see if it will help. Meanwhile he will continue my meds until pain levels go down. Then he'll start reducing the amount of opioids I use. As for medical marijuana, he's not yet licensed in my State to prescribe it, and he's not sure if he will.

He did say if they detected marijuana in a urine or blood test, he'd stop prescribing any meds. I haven't used, but I started growing two plants this Summer. I want to have some for when I do get permission. My questions are,

how much can be detected in your urine?

Will handling/examining my plants cause it to show in my urine?
They're still in vegetative stage. Right now after handling I wash my hands.
I wasn't going to wear gloves until they started forming buds. Then I'll wear medical gloves to prevent any transfer from resin/pollen etc.

Should I also wear a mask once they flower? Again, I don't want to take the chance of inadvertently testing positive from touching.

When I harvest, cut, and cure, I will wear both gloves and mask. Do you think this would prevent me from testing positive?

Note: I'm growing Sweet Afghani Delicious Fast by Sweet Seeds. When I bought the seeds in Spain the co-op clerk said they were good for pain.

If I do inadvertently test positive I'll fight it, but I'm a new patient, I'm not sure if I could get him to redo the test. If I'm cut off, I'll need to wean myself off quickly, but most likely I'll have to do inpatient detox. After that I'll find a licensed Doctor who can prescribe medical marijuana and go on from there.
