Missouri medical marijuana petition approved

Missouri medical marijuana petition approved
December 9, 2015

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Pro-pot activists have taken another step toward getting medical marijuana on the ballot in Missouri.

The Missouri secretary of state has approved the petition calling for a constitutional amendment to legalize the drug for medical use.

Now, supporters need to get thousands of valid signatures on that petition, before it can be put before voters.

They shot it down. B@stards

not entirely true...

there were 3 initiatives...

  1. one to decriminalize and treat it like tomato plants
  2. another like the failed bill in Ohio that would limit licences to a few corporations, but would not allow home growing
  3. and lastly the one that calls for anyone with a medical need to be able to grow up to 6 plants.

The first two did not get enough signatures, but the third one needed 168,000 signatures to get on the November ballot, and last count we had over 230,000. This is the last week to get these signatures into the state where they will be certified and approved. Missouri WILL have medical marijuana on the November ballot, thanks in a large part to the Show-Me Cannabis effort and the work of Jeff Mizanskey and others to get the word out.

Here is an update!

The Missouri constitutional amendment initiative to allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes was submitted Sunday, May 8, 2016, seeking to impose a 4 percent sales tax on medical marijuana sales. The state would set up a licensing program with fees for marijuana growers, manufacturers and retailers and would allow people to grow up to six plants for their personal medicinal use. Proceeds that don’t go toward administrative expenses would go to the Missouri Veterans Commission for veterans’ health care and nursing home services.

Assuming that the required number of 168,000 validated signatures has been met with almost a quarter of a million signatures collected, this initiative will be on the November ballot!

We are now entering the beginning stages of this thing. If you will do a search you will find that there are now several "doctors" giving medical clearances to patients who wish to apply for their medical card in June.
Buyer beware, each of these clinics operate a little differently. If you shop around you should be able to find significant discounts for seniors and disabilities. Expect to pay $200-$300 for this medical authorization. The state card later will cost $25.

Well, the licenses have been given out and we are about 3 months away from the first legal sales in MO. The moment the license was approved, our future local dispensary started the building project:

It is SO exciting to see this actually starting to happen!

Was about time, more states should pass laws and allow consumption, at least for those in need due to medical reasons. Let's face it, alcohol is legal although it produces much less damage to the health, it's just not fair.

Is the site open yet? Just did some interesting reading about the progress on the legal sale of medicine in MO and it's really disappointing:(.
No, it really is confusing... there is no activity on that lot at all. The KC news showed the grow op a month ago that will be supplying this area, and the product looked to be a month away from harvest... so yeah... what are they doing with it?
