Notice of Public Hearings on 18 Applications for RI MMJ Dispensary

The Director of the Rhode Island Department of Health has under consideration eighteen (18) complete applications submitted in response to the Announcement of Open Application Period for Operation of a Medical Marijuana Compassion Center, which terminated on 12 November 2010. of the Rhode Island General Laws, as amended requires that "Any time one or more compassion center registration applications are being considered, the department shall also allow for comment by the public and shall solicit input from registered qualifying patients, registered primary caregivers; and the towns or cities where the applicants would be located."

Notice is hereby given in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 4212(c)(2) of the Rhode Island General Laws, as amended, that the Director will hold a public hearing on the above mentioned matter, in the
auditorium
of the Rhode Island Department of Health (on the lower level of the Cannon Building), Three Capitol Hill, Providence, Rhode Island on Monday, 7 FEBRUARY 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at which time and place all persons interested therein will be heard. The seating capacity of the room will be enforced and therefore the number of persons participating in the hearing may be limited at any given time by the hearing officer, in order to comply with safety and fire codes.

For the sake of accuracy, it is requested that statements to be made relative to any of the proposed applications to operate a medical marijuana compassion center be submitted in writing at the time of the hearing or mailed prior to the hearing date to: Charles Alexandre, PhD, RN, Chief, Office of Health Professionals Regulation, Rhode Island Department of Health, 3 Capitol Hill Room 104, Providence, Rhode Island 029085097.

Copies of all complete applications to operate a medical marijuana compassion center will be available for public review (at least two weeks prior to the scheduled hearing date) on the Department of
Health's medical marijuana website
