Help! seed sticking out of soil on top of root?

since im a newbie this may be a stupid question but here it goes. I have 20 seeds and i started one of the seeds early to see how well the soaking technique works, the taproot emerged and it was planted. today when i woke up the root had grown so much that it was sticking out of the soil about a half an inch and the seed is sitting on top of the root exposed. IS that normal?

Re: help! seed sticking out of soil on top of root???

the seeds are from a seedbank and the strains are mazar and early skunk. they will be indoor for 6 weeks and then finished outdoor. only one seed is doing this as of now because that seed was started 2 days prior to my other ones. the seed may have been distressed somewhat, but does the seed usually break the surface with the root or does the seed stay in the soil once it has been planted?
