VT Dispensary legislation gains momentum

The existing broad based support for a Vermont dispensary bill will be put to another test this coming Tuesday March 23, 2010 when the bill comes up before the Vermont Senate for its second reading. The fact that it has moved so far so quickly bodes well and supporters are optimistically hopeful about the upcoming vote.

A list of VT senators and representatives is available at VT Compassion Centers | Medical Cannabis Collective, as well as a copy of the senate bill.

The Speaker of The House, Shap Smith has not made this a priority piece of legislation, considering the full plate he has which includes VT Yankee issues, a huge budget gap, and other high profile issues which must be addressed.

However, the fact that bill continues to have legs, is a testament to the hundreds and thousands of Vermonters that expect and demand that the state to make good on it's promise of six years ago, that of safe legal access to medical cannabis for state registered patients with their physicians oversight.

Please go to the above website, and contact House Speaker Shap Smith, as well as as many Senators and representatives as you can, and politely but insistently tell them that Vermont patients have waited over six years for safe legal access to their medicine, and six years is long enough.
