DAY ONE OF A NEW CROP FROM START UP

PICTURE XXX7855 shows the seed bearing envelope from 420.amp;nbsp; this time I ordered 5.amp;nbsp; the envelope is bubble wrapped inside.amp;nbsp; The seeds were very well packaged in a small plastic zip bag taped to the inside crease of a cardboard paper amp;nbsp; whichamp;nbsp; was sandwitched between two other folded pieces of cardboard paper.amp;nbsp; All that was stuffed inside of the bubble wrapped lined shipping package.amp;nbsp; Pictures 856,857 amp;amp; 858 shows the internal packaging. Since I am germinating only one, to make clones from, the rest are put in a safe place until needed later.amp;nbsp; The one I did germinate is shown in pictures 859, 860 amp;amp; 861.amp;nbsp; I first sterilized the glass. I added 2 oz of chlorine free water at room temperature to the glass.amp;nbsp; I dropped one seed into thte water and poked it gently to get it under the surface film.amp;nbsp; There in theglass it willstay for about 24 hours.amp;nbsp; As soon as the seed cracks, (opens a very little little), it may be placed in a nice rock wool cube that has been prepared by soaking it in a solution of properly mixed growth encouragment solution.amp;nbsp; That solution consists of 800 CC pure water, 1.5 CC CLONEX CLONE SOLUTION amp;amp; 1.5 CC 3% HYDROGEN PEROXIDE.amp;nbsp; After soaking the rockwool in the solution just prepared push the cracked seed 1/2 inch into the top hole of the rockwool cubeamp;nbsp; Squeeze thetop of the cube around theseed to gently cover the seed.amp;nbsp; Underscore the word GENTLE.amp;nbsp; Place that cube in the center of a steralized amp;amp; covered clone chamber.amp;nbsp; You can turn the light on if you want, but if you do make sure it is on an 18 hour schedule.amp;nbsp; Tomorrow morning at this time I will look closely for signs of cracking.amp;nbsp; I will check it every 6 hours after that.amp;nbsp; When I notice the seed has cracked I will let it stay in the water for an additional 4 hours before placing it in the rockwool cube.amp;nbsp; This is the precice method I used with 420 seeds and I have enjoyed a 100% success.amp;nbsp; That is why I chose to germinate just one seed.amp;nbsp; I am confident this and the resulting cloned crops will be a winner.amp;nbsp; To augment this effort I have developed a sensor I can add to my TIMEX 1000 program to keep track of soil moisture for each plant.amp;nbsp; Itold youabout this earlier and I posted pictures.amp;nbsp; Check it out if you want.amp;nbsp; I\'m excited about that new addition to the program.amp;nbsp; Making sure the plants had adequate water at all times was a parameter I had difficulty obtaining reliably amp;amp; cheaply.amp;nbsp; I don\'t want to spend anything if I can help it so I try to develop these things from items found in my junk box.amp;nbsp; That includes making use of devices in ways the designer did not intend them to be used for, or thought of for that matter.amp;nbsp; I\'m done for today.amp;nbsp; Tune in Tomorrow.amp;nbsp; I might actuallyhave something to say.amp;nbsp; Idon\'t have a macro lenz for my camera so I won\'t be able to show youhigh definition pictures.amp;nbsp; The seeds were barely visible in the pictures here.amp;nbsp; Its just a seed in a glass, nothing really remarkable about that.
