it was all gross at the bottom so I decided to clean the hell out of the tank and also taped the top of each basket with duct tape. Hopefully that will eliminate any possibility of light reaching the basin which Im guessing caused the gnarley build-up. wish me luck :D

This is my first time growing nuggs and have very limited knowledge of the whole process despite the mass amounts of literature I have read. Would a kind soul please tell me what is wrong with my system and what I need to do to fix it?

Is there something wrong with this picture? The tubes look gross but I don't know what to do about that. The roots are brown but I read they should have a brownish shade to them. And no the tank doesn't smell gross.
