I would suggest avoiding CFLs if you can. Screw in LED bulbs have advanced to a point where they are as efficient as some midrange blurple grow lights. CFLs are way less efficient and are more of a fire hazard. Oh and CFLs have mercury in them and they are made of glass, the LEDs have plastic...
Home Depot doesnt have fancy grow lights but they have what you need if you are doing a small DIY grow. Just get regular 14w LED screw in bulbs. If you plan to veg and bloom under the same bulbs home depot will likely have 5000k and 2700k color temp readily available in bulk so I would try to...
Dont use CFL if you can help it, you can get much more bang for your buck just using 14w LED screw in bulbs. It was explained to me like this, if someone gives you free CFL bulbs you would still be better off going and buying LED bulbs due to the efficiency of the LED vs the CFL bulbs. The LED...
Its gonna vary a lot between manufactures. Par output matters with LED and that is widely different between makers. The more info you can give the better.
In my opinion you do not need 5x600 watts HPS to veg 4 plants. That seems like overkill. If I were you I would cut WAY WAY back on the veg lighting if you are throwing an electrical breaker. I am not a veteran grower like some of these other guys, they may know better than me.
Re: First time buying seeds! I'm stoked

Make sure your soil doesnt have too many nutes at first, that can be rough on the seedlings.
