Super busy week combined with crazy events here makes for lack of updates...
Starting to get everything trained into the second net nicely. Ladies have developed a real thirst, now having to water every other day as opposed to 3-5!

The first layer is pretty taut and seems to be doing the job, been trying to train the growth to get some of the side shoots up. Plan is to pull the second net into use this week, but I wanted to have a go at making a framed one so I can alter the height with ease!
Fly paper is a good supplementary option but you've got to remember that the gnats are feeding on the plants root system, which left untreated can cause all sorts of nasty issues!

Alternatively if you still have more of that soil and plan to use it further along; be it through transplant or other plants to be potted up, id recommend baking the soil in a tray at 200c for 45 minutes as this will kill any bacteria or nasty larvae that may be in the soil .
No real change, spent a little pushing tops back under the net (feel like this is going to be me for next few weeks .)

I used Mosquito Dunk to get rid of my gnat issue. About 1/4 of a dunk per pot did the trick. If you're in a plastic pot you could always try adding 1-2 inches of sand to the surface which will mean the gnats cannot burrow through...
Wish I'd started my training earlier kinda feel like I missed the boat a bit early on!
How frequently are you watering now? The surface looks pretty moist! Are you using the dry-at-a-knuckle-deep rule? One of my issues early on proved to be going too heavy on my watering schedule. They really...
Last one for the day. Second trellis is in but needs cutting to size. Some tops already starting to turn their heads around, should be interesting to see how they work with it overnight!

Looking real nice Caconym you can really see the difference in growth under the new cob setup .
I too have struggled with the recent heatwave we've been experiencing, but managed to counter it by improving the air flow. Where are you venting your exhaust to? Is the room sealed?
