Re: Root aphids in hydro.. Any help?
hey man, this post is a bit old however I'm doing some searching on how to get rid of these fucking aphids!
how much neem oil, and botaniguard pyrethrin do you use? also how long do you dunk? one, or twenty seconds?
thanks man

Yes if your ppm/EC is going down this is because your plants are taking more nutes than they are drinking water.. try and have your EC stay the same, meaning your plants are taking up an equal amount of both. I'd bump up to around 1.3 and see what happens from there!
Yes you include the water PPM in your final PPM count, there is Calcium and Magnesium in your water which are indeed solids.
I think you're really best off getting a cheap filter such as this one
Hydro-logic Hydro-logic? 60 GPD Small Boy Chlorine and Sediment Filter System - Style # 728875...
Res temps are between 60-63.. Winters are cold around here and I keep the heat off outside the flower room where the reservoirs are kept for just that reason.
But anyways, I took out the airstones and added 200ppm of CalMag. seems to have taken care of it, I haven't had to pH yet three days...
Okay so the water in my reservoir is climbing faster than it should.. After it is pH'ed to about 5.8, within several hours it has climbed back to 6.8 and even to 7.4.
I'm running two ebb and flows and they both are having the same problem, the res that supports the bigger plants typically...
took pH and ppm of runoff today..
pH was 6.7 and ppm 630.
could the fact that we run half perlite and half soil have a difference of the pH we should be watering with?
Here's the deal guys..
the plants are TGA querkle at approx 3 weeks into flower. they're in 5 gal pots with ocean forest and perlite.. about a 50/50 mix.
The temps are 70-74 with the lights on but go down to about 66 with the lights off.
house and garden are the nutes and the plants...
