The one I had did not have a veg/bloom switch. I had one of those 300w Mars units running for over two years with no problem. Then I went on a three day weekend camping trip and during that time the exhaust fan stopped working in my grow closest. The temps went above 90F and five of the blue LED...
The Mars hydro 300w might be a better light if you are on a limited budget. Ive heard several people complain about the Viparspectra customer service.
If you have some more money to spend this is a better light than the Vipar and Mars 300w
Mars , Led grow light , Mars Hydro
I dont know much about COB lighting and I have some questions. Will this light be enough to grow a plant from veg through flower? And is it overpriced? If the light isnt good enough anyone know of another COB under $160 that is good enough for a plant. Max coverage area I am looking for is 2x2...
The 300w is a good light but it does have a flaw. The heatsink is not the best and as a result if temps in your grow tent/closest starts to get above 90F the blue LED lights will start to burn out.
It only affects the areas above the eaten part of the stalk. Ive had squash plants get attacked by a type of boring insect. They would bore up into one leaf at a time until it withered and died. Then it would move to the next leaf.
It looks like bud rot. Cut about an inch below the brown part to remove the rot.
Edit- Or it could be a corn borer inside the stalk eating the plants circulatory system.
I have broken branches so bad the were hanging limp and pointing down and they recovered. As long as the branch isnt removed completely it should recover nicely.
I cant tell but I dont think so. When pollination happens the hairs wither and turn brown. I would be more concerned at this point with the yellowing of leaves, leaves turning down and burnt leaf tips.
I use neem oil extract a natural insecticide, when I have garden pests. Its not a powerful insecticide that will kill the eggs so you will need to apply it every couple days for a week or two.
I do not thinks it is too bushy. Looks like a fine sativa to me.
Edit- If it will stay outdoors its whole life cycle I do not think you can get too bushy.
I would cover the light on the on/off switch on your plug bar. I dont think it is bright enough to mess with cannabis during flower but it is better to be safe than sorry.
