No do not use incandescent lighting for growing plants. If by "regular" you happen to mean led or CFL then yes you can use those for seedlings until they need something more.

I have these light bulbs and they say led, would these be good just until my plants get big enough for my 600w hps?

Yea those should be ok. Ideally you want a cooler (more white) spectrum for vegetative plants, something with a color temperature around 5000 kelvin is generally recommended, more red light increases stretching.

Okay bet, do you think this is fine ? Also thanks a lot for helping me man this is my first grow

Yeah that's fine for now. They don't need very much light for the first couple of days. If they start getting tall and spindly "stretching" they need more light. Looks like you have another led in there as well? That would work well after they get their second set of true leaves grown in.

Okay bet, thanks for the info man!

Looks like it is gonna get hot in there when you turn that led on.
Make sure you have some good air coming In and the same for exhaust.

Yup, I have 1 fan on right now and the temps around 75 to 80, with like 40% humidity, is that fine for seedlings? I have another fan that’s not turned on right now but im gonna turn it on when I start using my hps light because that thing gets HOT as hell

I think your gonna run into a problem. That space looks pretty small and those lights put off some heat.
Unless its 50°-55 or under on the outside and above those walls.
You need some fresh (not hot) air pushed into your closet and you need it pumped out as well.
I would put 1 fan to blow between the led & the top of your girls definitely. Another fan circulating to keep the leaves moving (just right)
Keep your humidity in check.
I wouldn't be raising that humidity too high until you get an exhaust fan. You are just asking for mold.
I totally get it bro. I am just about done with my 1st grow and I definitely tried to cut corners. There is pretty much no way around some things especially when growing indoors.
I would love to help, & I have come across some amazing people on here who should chime in soon.
Don't be shy keep asking questions.

The answer to your question is yes. Your seedlings should be fine for now. I personally don't let temps get above 82° so you wanna watch those temps on those youngins.

im growing some in my closet lol, I have 2 fans right now I have 1 that’s for the middle and the light, and I have another 1 I hung up to blow on the leaves when they grow
View media item 1766779My temps are getting pretty high but I’m about to install an ac in my room to keep the temps cooler, does this seem alright ?

Hey @WalterGamer8 awesome of you to reach out for questions. That’s what we’re all here for! Not bothering me at all! :passitleft:

you had some solid answers above, thanks to you guys! one thing I would say, is growing with those lights are tricky because the plants stretch. Then when you lower the light, it burns up the plants from the heat. Your lil setup will work for the time being, but you will more then likely run into those two problems when growing with those lights. If your on the ball with reading what their doing, your set up should work for a while. :thumb: I wouldn’t go any longer then two weeks with it. Even two weeks may be pushing it.

do you have ajournal?
WalterGamer8
WalterGamer8
Yo what’s good bro :bongrip: I was thinkin about makin a grow journal. I’m scared as hell doe because idk what to do for ventilation. I can’t cut holes in my closet for ventilation so I just have some fans going on right now, everything’s all good right now not too hot, 80 degrees high. I was reading up on it and when Im gonna switch to my 600w hps light it gets to like 80 - 85 degrees. I have no ventilation and just a couple fans and my closet is 3.3 by 2 ft. Do you think I’m fucked ?

You can use Panda film black on one side white on the other on the inside of the closet opening to block the light. You can cut holes in that for ventilation and still be able to more or less close the doors without drawing a ton of attention.
