12 hours of darkness?

i got a question.when u grow outdoors and when u force the plant to flower , u have to put something over it to give it 12 hours of darkness.say wat ever u put over it,does it need to have holes in it to breathe?let me know,thanks

I'm not sure about the whole cover thing.

But if the plant is grown at the right time. You can leave it outside all 24 hours and it will flower on it's own. If you grow it earlier you can bring the plant inside into dark for 12 hours a day.

A friend of mine wasn't very responsible about taking his plant outside at the right time for 12/12. So he put lights on a timer in the closet it was in so it kept flowering hours.

you can put a big black garbage back on top to cover it and to induce the flowering hormone a bit more than nature would intend outdoors.... you dont have to poke holes thru it, just make sure that the plant has enough fresh air coming from underneath
