Block On Medical Marijuana Restrictions Extended

A Helena judge's temporary block of key provisions of Montana's new medical marijuana law will continue for another month.

Voters last week upheld the law passed by the 2011 Legislature, but a legal challenge is still pending.

Montana Cannabis Industry Association president Chris Lindsey says District Judge James Reynolds pushed back a hearing on the advocacy group's request for a preliminary injunction against the law.

The hearing, which had been scheduled for Tuesday, has been rescheduled for Dec. 13.

That means Reynolds' temporary restraining order preventing the state from enforcing parts of the law will be extended until then.

Reynolds' order keeps the state from restricting medical marijuana providers to a maximum of three patients and from receiving compensation for their services.
