BOULDER C0 - Helping Hands Herbals, a medical marijuana dispensary in Boulder, will conduct an open house to answer questions about dispensaries' responsibilities to the community, the licensing process and the various health benefits of medical marijuana for those who suffer from cancer, glaucoma and chronic pain.

"This endeavor, this industry, it has to be about more than just smoking the medicine," said Jeff Kless, who co-owns Helping Hands Herbals with Timothy Rea.

The event takes place from 4 to 7:30 pm, Thursday, Jan. 28, at 2714 28th St. (next to Dot's Diner) in Boulder.

It will feature music, free food and drink, and time with Helping Hands' staff.

Kless and Rea have lived and worked in Boulder for more than 30 years. "We've worked as holistic health practitioners for a long time," Kless said.

"And because we ascribe to a whole body approach to wellness, our mission is to bring the best we can offer to this community on several fronts, with a focus on quality and value."

Helping Hands Herbals plans to donate 15 percent of its profits to benefit the critically ill who cannot afford medical marijuana, and it also has begun working with those in hospice care.

Helping Hands is creating a series of classes that will be open to the community that revolve around lifestyle, including nutrition and stress-management, and other topics such as growing techniques.
