Denver - This weekend will be filled with barbecues, bonfires and fireworks.

For us humans it's a beautiful and patriotic display celebrating our country's independence

But for pets like Colleen Kahoe's rescue dog, fireworks can be high stress, high anxiety and highly uncomfortable.

"I don`t like to leave her on the 4th of July, that's for sure," said Kahoe.

"She paces, pants heavily, goes into the basement," Kahoe said of her dog's behavior during thunderstorms and fireworks displays.

But now in weed friendly Colorado, there are new products on the market that might help.

"This is a CBD tincture, this is 100mlg," said Danielle Jarock, Owner of Quality Paws Natural Pets as she points out the different options she sells in her natural pet food store on Broadway.

"So you would give this in a dropper full and it's dependent on the size and weight of your dog," she explains of the CBD oil made for dogs.

"These are edibites which have the tincture inside the treats," she said pointing to another option of CBD infused treats.

No, it's not marijuana, and the makers and sellers of these CBD dog treats say feeding them to Fido, won't get him stoned.

"CBD is a cannabinoid derived from the hemp plant," said Jarock.

"It's been an overall very good tool to help with anxiety in dogs," Jarock said of her experience and what she hears from customers who've bought the products for their dogs.

Some dog owners, like Colleen, say the treats are worth a try, if it means this weekend, they don't have to see their pup hiding in fear.

"It`s a horrible feeling but there`s nothing we can do about it on the 4th of July," said Kahoe.
