Director of documentary 'Got the facts on Milk?' creates new short documentary highlighting recent federal government attacks on not-for-profit cannabis healing centers.

Berkeley, California (PRWEB) May 23, 2012
Director, Shira Lane of the feature documentary film 'Got the facts on Milk?' that cracked the cow milk stigma and altered the non-dairy alternative milk market, has set grounds as a fearless documentarian going against the stream.

This time Lane continues with a short documentary and campaign on the Medical Marijuana industry and the recent federal attacks on cannabis collectives. Lane highlights a different side to what most people conceive of these facilities.

Bringing to the camera severely ill patients and care givers who rely solely on cannabis for treatment, gives new light to this arena. Illustrating that these not-for-profit facilities, not only care for the severely ill but also serve as an important community center.

Patient Mary Elizabeth Davis, a retired licensed vocational nurse with severe osteoarthritis, must have both her knees replaced. All the pharmaceutical medications prescribed to her have caused side effects including: additional pain, vision problems, nausea and possible blood clots. Her doctor eventually recommended she try medical cannabis, and found Berkeley Patients Group, a not-for-profit medical cannabis collective, that has successfully treated her where pharmaceuticals failed.

The documentary alongside the change.org campaign raises the question; Why is the federal government spending large amounts of unavailable tax money on a non incident issue? More so these not-for-profit collectives seem to be helping the community and increasing local and state tax dollars.

While Governor Brown of California desperately seeks ways to fix the California budget crisis and the Federal Government deprives California of one of its most promising incomes, severely ill patients are sent to the street with no alternative.

President Barak Obama during his 2008 campaign assured "To end federal interference with state medical marijuana laws". What happened with this campaign promise?
