FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) - Tuesday night, the City of Fruita's Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed medical marijuana dispensary.
The Commission will decide whether to recommend to Fruita City Council that Nex Gen get a conditional use permit.
If they approve it, City Council will then hold a public hearing Oct. 5 before making a final decision.
Nex Gen would be Fruita's first medical marijuana dispensary.
The City says it's recently seen an increase in interest from people wanting to learn more about how to open a medical marijuana dispensary in Fruita since Grand Junction City Council starting talking about an ordinance that would ban them.
Nex Gen would be located at 1960 Hwy 6&50.
Fruita is the only city on the Western Slope that has a five percent sales tax on medical marijuana.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Fruita Civic Center.
