A newly released research report sheds additional light on the projected growth in cannabis demand between now and 2025. In a report published by New Frontier Data, sales of medicinal cannabis are projected to increase to $5.3 billion in 2017, accounting for 67% of all legal cannabis sales.

By 2025; demand for medicinal cannabis is expected to more than double — to $13.2 billion. However, at this point medicinal sales would account for only 55% of total demand. This reflects the fact that the increase in demand for (legal) recreational use of cannabis is expected to climb at an even more rapid rate.

In 2017; recreational sales in "adult use" U.S. states are estimated at $2.6 billion. By 2025; that total is expected to rise to $10.9, more than quadrupling. Further information can be found here.

One of the publicly-listed cannabis companies expected to benefit from this soaring demand is Invictus MD Strategies Corp. The Company just announced that its Acreage Pharms (ACMPR) licensed facility near Edson, Alberta is about to begin its first harvest.

Simultaneously, Invictus has announced that Acreage Pharms has received its development permit for its Phase 2 expansion. The Company has already broken ground on construction on a 27,800 square foot multi-purpose production facility.
