A 40-year-old Torrington man caught with about 100 pounds of marijuana has avoided a prison term.

Kenneth Gelormino Junior was given home confinement by a Litchfield judge yesterday after his lawyer convinced the judge that his client was very cooperative with police and was under the influence of his father.

When Gelormino was caught in Waterbury selling 100 pounds of marijuana two years ago, he quickly cooperated with police, telling them where they could find another 100 pounds in Torrington. It was with his father.

The father died before going to trial. The judge cited Gelormino's cooperation as well has a debilitating back condition in giving him year of home confinement and five years probation.
