Owners of a new alternative wellness clinic in West Dundee are hoping to fill a gap in the suburbs by offering medical marijuana education and resources.

Entourage Clinical Services, which opened last week at 737 S. Eighth St., provides a holistic approach to health care and promotes natural, plant-based treatment for pain management, co-founder Kalee Hooghkirk said.

Though not a medical marijuana dispensary, she said, the wellness boutique holds education workshops and helps patients go through the process of obtaining a state registration card.

"Our focus is really expanding the program, educating physicians and helping to connect patients to the program," said Hooghkirk, an aesthetician and cannabis clinician who also uses medical marijuana. "We're not really doing our job if we're not trying to get more people on board."

In addition to medical marijuana services, ECS offers various forms of health care, including physical therapy, counseling, yoga, Reiki, massage therapy, nutrition and chiropractic services. The business also sells hemp-based Mary's Medicinal products to be used for pain management.

Hooghkirk and her business partner, Melanie Dillon, opened another ECS location last month at 697 S. Lake St. in Mundelein.

"We're really focused on making the community well," Hooghkirk said. "It's not just about the medical cannabis for us. It's about everything as a whole."

As the demand continues to grow for medical marijuana and alternative health care options, ECS will be able to help clients navigate through the industry, she said. The wellness center plans to partner with dispensaries and cultivation centers that have recently popped up throughout the suburbs.

Though most services are available by appointment, ECS's Mundelein and West Dundee locations also have varying retail hours, Hooghkirk said.

Tim Scott, West Dundee's community development director, said the clinic will likely fill a market need for many area residents. The business' holistic healing tactics, he said, reflect a "larger and ongoing evolution of medical care to include for those interested an integrated approach to treatment and overall well-being."
